product-briefTurn a one-sentence startup idea into a structured product brief with problem, audience, value proposition, 5-7 MVP features, 90-day metrics, risks, and a go-to-market snapshot.
Product Brief is an agent skill from emotixco/claude-skills-founder. Turn a one-sentence startup idea into a structured product brief with problem, audience, value proposition, 5-7 MVP features, 90-day metrics, risks, and a go-to-market snapshot. Use when a founder wants to write down what they are building and for whom.
Its SKILL.md is about 580 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Marketing & SEO, covering Go-to-market strategy and Positioning and messaging. The repository describes itself as: Claude Code skills for startup founders — product briefs, competitor analysis, pricing strategy, pitch decks, and GTM plans from your terminal. The licence is MIT.
7 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 0602cad. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
ReadEdit(founder/**)WebSearchWebFetchFrom allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Product Brief loads about 579 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 67 tokens; SKILL.md has 274 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

founder/facts.md, founder/validate-idea.md, founder/persona-gen.md, founder/competitor-matrix.mdfounder/product-brief.mdProblem statement. What specific pain does this solve? Who feels it most? How do they deal with it today?
Target audience. Name the primary audience in one specific sentence. Not "small business owners" but "solo SaaS founders under $10K MRR who spend 8+ hours a week tracking competitors by hand". If founder/persona-gen.md exists, use its primary persona. Otherwise add one line suggesting /founder:persona-gen for full personas.
Value proposition. One sentence that passes the "so what?" test. Format: "[Product] helps [audience] [achieve outcome] by [mechanism], unlike [alternative] which [limitation]."
Core features (MVP). Exactly 5-7 features. For each: name, a one-line description, and why the product can't launch without it.
Success metrics. 3-5 measurable KPIs with targets for the first 90 days. Include leading indicators, not just revenue.
Risks and assumptions. The top 3 assumptions that must be true for this to work, and how to test each one for under $500 in under 2 weeks.
Go-to-market snapshot. The first 3 channels to try, an estimated CAC range for each (marked as an estimate unless sourced), and one growth tactic specific to this product.

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Product Brief is instructions for the agent only. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Read, Edit(founder/**), WebSearch, WebFetch.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Product Brief is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 579 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.3k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
