seo-competitorsFinds a domain's real SEO competitors through DataForSEO Labs, ranked by SERP overlap, with shared keywords, traffic estimates and a 0-100 competitive score.
Before anything else the skill runs a shared preflight script. If DataForSEO credentials are missing, the agent shows a setup wizard, waits for you to paste a login and API password, saves them to a private `.env` file under the skills folder with restricted permissions, and checks them with a test call, handling the account-verification error separately. It is told never to echo, log or commit the credentials.
The analysis calls `domain_overview.py competitors` for the target domain, then pulls keyword intersections for the top five rivals. The report is a top-10 table of domain, common keywords, the rival's unique keywords, estimated traffic and domain rank, kept in the API's SERP overlap order, followed by overlap analysis for the top three and a Competitive Score from 0 to 100 showing how dominant the target is in its category. A run costs roughly five to eight cents of API usage.
7 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 67ac4f0. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are bash and json).

Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
DATAFORSEO_PASSWORDFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
SEO Competitor Analysis with DataForSEO loads about 957 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 73 tokens; SKILL.md has 340 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.

The DataForSEO competitors endpoint already ranks them by SERP overlap with your target — keep that order.
For the top 3 competitors:
How dominant is the target in its competitive set?

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, SEO Competitor Analysis with DataForSEO needs credentials named DATAFORSEO_PASSWORD. Our summary lists: A DataForSEO API login and password; The shared seo skill scripts installed under `~/.claude/skills/seo/`. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Bash, Write.
SKILL.md names 1 domain. As links in the text: dataforseo.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (mentions a .env file; pre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: bash)), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
