obsidian-literature-workflowRuns a project literature review in an Obsidian vault: paper notes in Sources/Papers feed Knowledge synthesis, a Writing handoff and a default literature canvas.
The skill owns the literature workflow for a project vault. Work flows from Sources/Papers to Knowledge, then Writing, with Maps/literature.canvas as the default graph. Default outputs are one note per paper, a Literature Overview, Method Taxonomy, Research Gaps and Claim Map in Knowledge, a related-work draft and comparison matrix in Writing, and the canvas.
Rules keep the layers separate. Paper notes stay in Sources/Papers, synthesis never lives inside source notes, every synthesis note links its supporting sources and every research gap carries evidence. A promoted claim needs an Evidence Record ID, source type, claim strength, allowed wording and forbidden stronger wording before it can flow into writing, and the related-work draft and comparison matrix are produced only once promoted claims pass that evidence gate. Weak paper notes, abstract-only pages and web placeholders can update coverage or the To-Read list but cannot support conclusions.
Reference files cover the paper note schema, literature overview, claim extraction, method taxonomy, research gaps, canvas and graph workflows, and Python scripts build the literature canvas and graph. No extra canvases are generated unless requested.

Obsidian Literature Workflow loads about 431 tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.8k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 59 tokens; SKILL.md has 140 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

Runs a project literature review in an Obsidian vault: paper notes in Sources/Papers feed Knowledge synthesis, a Writing handoff and a default literature canvas. The skill owns the literature workflow for a project vault.canvas as the default graph.
Obsidian Literature Workflow fits situations like: running a structured literature review inside an Obsidian vault; turning paper notes into a method taxonomy and a research gap list; building the default literature canvas from source notes; preparing evidence-backed claims for a related-work draft.
Run `npx skills add Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --skill obsidian-literature-workflow -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/obsidian-literature-workflow in Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar) into .claude/skills/obsidian-literature-workflow in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --skill obsidian-literature-workflow -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/obsidian-literature-workflow in Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar) into .agents/skills/obsidian-literature-workflow in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --skill obsidian-literature-workflow -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/obsidian-literature-workflow, .gemini/skills/obsidian-literature-workflow, .github/skills/obsidian-literature-workflow and .opencode/skills/obsidian-literature-workflow in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Obsidian Literature Workflow needs Python for the scripts in its folder. Our summary lists: An Obsidian vault with Sources, Knowledge, Writing and Maps folders; Python, for the canvas and graph scripts.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Obsidian Literature Workflow is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 431 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 1.7k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 1.3k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
