paper-analyzeAnalyzes arXiv papers, PDFs, project pages and blogs and writes an evidence-backed Obsidian note with images and a knowledge-graph entry.
This skill analyzes a research source in depth and writes an Obsidian note with evidence and extracted images. It first identifies what it was given: an arXiv ID or link, a public PDF URL, a local PDF, a research project or company page, a blog post, a plain web page or only a title. It will not assume arXiv from a number, and will not invent arXiv metadata for a blog or an ordinary PDF. The skill text is in Chinese.
A resolver script, resolve_source.py, classifies the input into source.json. The agent checks the vault for duplicates by document ID, arXiv ID, normalized title and source URL, keeps manual content in existing notes, and bases the analysis on the PDF text or page body, separating the author's claims, cited evidence and its own inference. generate_note.py creates a note template only when none exists, with a research structure for papers or a source structure for blogs and pages, and update_graph.py records the note in the vault's graph once placeholders are filled. Images for papers come from a sibling extract-paper-images skill.
It needs OBSIDIAN_VAULT_PATH pointing at the vault, with a Papers folder under 20_Research, and defaults the note language to zh when none is configured. If full text is unavailable it analyzes only what is visible and states the gap.
4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ef3a594. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 3 files in scripts/ (Python), which the agent can run.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Paper and Web Source Analyzer loads about 715 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 70 tokens; SKILL.md has 211 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
Without a licence we can't republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 211 words (~715 tokens).

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Paper and Web Source Analyzer needs Python for the scripts in its folder. Our summary lists: OBSIDIAN_VAULT_PATH pointing to an Obsidian vault; Python to run the bundled scripts.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
No licence was found for Paper and Web Source Analyzer or its repository. Without one, default copyright applies: ask the author before reusing or redistributing it.
About 715 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Paper and Web Source Analyzer: Zotero Obsidian Bridge (Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar, 5.7k stars), Paper Analyzer (LigphiDonk/Oh-my--paper, 739 stars), Paper Research on arXiv (XiaomiMiMo/MiMo-Code, 14k stars) and Deeppapernote (917Dhj/DeepPaperNote, 1.2k stars).
