At a glance

Gives the agent two bash-callable tools, web_search for real-time results and web_fetch for reading a page as markdown or HTML, instead of guessing from training data.

  • Searching the web for current information
  • SKILL.md covers web_search, web_fetch and Guidelines
  • Instructions only: no scripts, shell commands, URLs or credentials in SKILL.md
  • Fetching a URL and reading it as markdown

What it does

Two tools are called through `tai tool` in bash. `web_search` takes a query and an optional limit (10 results by default) and returns structured results with a title, URL and content snippet. `web_fetch` takes a fully formed URL and an optional format, markdown by default or html, and returns the page content in a readable form. All output is JSON.

The guidance is to use search to discover URLs and fetch to read them, and to include the current year when looking for recent information. The description tells the agent to reach for this skill first whenever a task needs the web or real-time information, rather than answering from stale knowledge.

When your agent uses it

  • Searching the web for current information
  • Fetching a URL and reading it as markdown
  • Checking a fact that may have changed since the model was trained

Example prompts

  • “Search the web for the latest Node.js release notes and summarize the breaking changes.”
  • “Fetch https://example.com/pricing as markdown and list the plans.”
  • “Find recent news about this company and give me the top five results.”

Requirements

  • The `tai` command-line tool
  • Network access

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 0b6ee5f. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are bash).

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Yao Web Search and Fetch loads about 315 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 58 tokens; SKILL.md has 98 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~58
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~315

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 98 words (~315 tokens).
