yao-imageLets an agent read and describe images through a vision model and generate or edit images from text prompts, using the tai command-line tool.
This skill documents image tools that run through the `tai tool` command. The image_read tool sends a local file or URL to a vision-capable model and returns a text description. It accepts an optional prompt, a maximum edge size that defaults to 1080 pixels, and a choice of vision provider. Images are resized before sending, and PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP are supported.
The image_generate tool creates a picture from a text prompt and always writes it to a path you give with --output. Options cover provider, model, dimensions, a transparent background for icons or stickers, output format (PNG or WebP) and quality. Changing an existing picture is handled by a separate image_edit tool.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit eea1e7e. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

Yao Image Tools loads about 2k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 50 tokens; SKILL.md has 615 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 615 words (~1,995 tokens).
“Use these tools when you encounter images you cannot read natively, or when you need to generate new images.”

Run `npx skills add YaoApp/yao --skill yao-image -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (tools/skills/yao-image in YaoApp/yao) into .claude/skills/yao-image in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add YaoApp/yao --skill yao-image -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (tools/skills/yao-image in YaoApp/yao) into .agents/skills/yao-image in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add YaoApp/yao --skill yao-image -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/yao-image, .gemini/skills/yao-image, .github/skills/yao-image and .opencode/skills/yao-image in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Yao Image Tools is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: The tai command-line tool; A vision-capable model provider for reading images; An image generation provider for creating images.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Yao Image Tools has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 2k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 8k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
