yao-secretLets the agent list and read the secrets a user has configured, such as API keys and tokens, through two tai tools instead of hardcoding credentials into code or commands.
This skill documents two tools called through bash with the tai command. secret_list returns the names and descriptions of the secrets configured for the current assistant but never their values. secret_read takes a name, such as GITHUB_TOKEN or AWS_SECRET_KEY, and returns the decrypted value for use in scripts. All output is JSON.
The intended order is to list first, confirm the needed secret exists, and only then read it and use it in API calls or git authentication. Credentials are never hardcoded, values are decrypted only at read time, and the agent is told not to log, print or expose a returned value anywhere users can see it. If a secret is missing, the agent asks the user to add it in their settings.
3 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit eea1e7e. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are bash).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
GITHUB_TOKENAWS_SECRET_KEYFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Yao Secret Access loads about 415 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 53 tokens; SKILL.md has 160 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 160 words (~415 tokens).
“Two tools for accessing user-configured secrets, called via bash.”
Just SKILL.md in tools/skills/yao-secret of YaoApp/yao.

This skill documents two tools called through bash with the tai command. secret_list returns the names and descriptions of the secrets configured for the current assistant but never their values.
Yao Secret Access fits situations like: A script needs an API key or token the user has already configured; checking which secrets are available before calling a service; authenticating git or an API call without writing credentials into files.
Run `npx skills add YaoApp/yao --skill yao-secret -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (tools/skills/yao-secret in YaoApp/yao) into .claude/skills/yao-secret in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add YaoApp/yao --skill yao-secret -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (tools/skills/yao-secret in YaoApp/yao) into .agents/skills/yao-secret in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add YaoApp/yao --skill yao-secret -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/yao-secret, .gemini/skills/yao-secret, .github/skills/yao-secret and .opencode/skills/yao-secret in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Yao Secret Access needs credentials named GITHUB_TOKEN and AWS_SECRET_KEY. Our summary lists: The tai command-line tool; Secrets configured in the assistant's settings.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Yao Secret Access has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 415 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 1.7k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
