At a glance

Guides a manual practice session in TradingView replay mode: set a chart, step through historical bars, take trades and review the P&L.

  • Works in 5 steps: Setup → Pre-Trade Analysis → Step Through Bars → …
  • Practicing a trading setup on historical data
  • SKILL.md covers Step 1: Setup, Step 2: Pre-Trade Analysis, Step 3: Step Through Bars and Step 4: Execute Trades, plus 2 more sections
  • Instructions only: no scripts, shell commands, URLs or credentials in SKILL.md

What it does

Using tools from the tradingview-mcp server, the agent sets the symbol and timeframe, starts replay at a date you choose, pulls historical price data for context, adds any indicators you want and captures a screenshot of the starting chart.

It then advances one bar at a time or with autoplay, checks replay status after significant moves and narrates what happened, such as a breakout or a support test. When you spot an entry, it places a buy or sell in the replay account and confirms the position, then closes it on request.

At the end it reports total trades, wins and losses, net P&L and key lessons, takes a final screenshot and exits replay mode. Tips suggest stepping several bars at a time to find setups, slowing down for entry timing, and marking entries and exits with drawings.

When your agent uses it

  • Practicing a trading setup on historical data
  • Backtesting an idea manually, bar by bar
  • Reviewing a practice session with win-loss and P&L figures

Example prompts

  • “Start a replay of AAPL on the daily chart from last March and let me practice trades.”
  • “Step forward five bars and tell me what happened at that support level.”
  • “Close my replay position and show the P&L for this session.”

Requirements

  • TradingView Desktop connected through the tradingview-mcp server

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. Setup
  2. Pre-Trade Analysis
  3. Step Through Bars
  4. Execute Trades
  5. Review

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit c05b8f5. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

TradingView Replay Practice loads about 446 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 43 tokens; SKILL.md has 225 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~43
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~446

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 225 words (~446 tokens).
