At a glance

Scans a list of trading symbols in TradingView for setups, patterns or strategy results and reports them as a ranked comparison table.

  • Works in 4 steps: Define the Scan → Run the Scan → Compile Results → …
  • Comparing strategy performance across several futures or stock symbols
  • SKILL.md covers Step 1: Define the Scan, Step 2: Run the Scan, Step 3: Compile Results and Step 4: Report, plus 1 more section
  • Instructions only: no scripts, shell commands, URLs or credentials in SKILL.md

What it does

A scan is defined by its symbols (given by you or read from a watchlist with watchlist_get), a timeframe and criteria such as indicator values, strategy results or visual patterns. It then runs one of three ways: batch_run with get_strategy_results to compare strategy performance across symbols and timeframes, batch_run with screenshot to capture charts, or a per-symbol loop that sets the symbol and timeframe, adds an indicator, pulls OHLCV data and reads the indicator values.

Results go into a comparison table with a column per metric and a signal, sorted by the most relevant metric, followed by a ranked list, the strongest setups, any divergences or anomalies, and screenshots of the top one or two charts for visual confirmation. New finds can be added back to the watchlist with watchlist_add. The tools come from the tradingview-mcp project, which connects the agent to TradingView Desktop.

When your agent uses it

  • Comparing strategy performance across several futures or stock symbols
  • Screening a watchlist for indicator-based setups
  • Capturing daily charts of several tickers side by side for review

Example prompts

  • “Scan my watchlist on the daily timeframe and rank the symbols by the indicator I just added.”
  • “Take daily chart screenshots of AAPL, MSFT, GOOGL and AMZN so I can compare them.”
  • “Compare my strategy results across the index futures on the 15 minute chart.”

Requirements

  • TradingView Desktop connected through the tradingview-mcp tools

Workflow steps

4 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. Define the Scan
  2. Run the Scan
  3. Compile Results
  4. Report

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit c05b8f5. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Multi-Symbol Market Scanner loads about 447 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 39 tokens; SKILL.md has 178 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~39
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~447

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 178 words (~447 tokens).

“You are scanning multiple symbols for trading setups or comparing performance.”
