  • Runs Python scripts from its folder; calls python3 and pip

What it does

The skill edits a demo video for a mobile feature from real app recordings. A bundled renderer, `scripts/film.py`, produces silent video with configurable dimensions, frame rate, framing and fades; the defaults are 1080x1920 at 30fps with a phone frame on a warm paper backdrop, and a useful length is one feature in 20 to 40 seconds. The story is planned first: the user's action, the app responding, and the visible result.

The workflow plans one story, captures footage with the separate `mobile-demo-record` skill (which needs macOS; editing existing footage does not), normalizes simulator recordings to a constant frame rate before choosing cuts, composes the film from a JSON spec, and reviews a contact sheet plus a full playback. It needs Python 3.10 or later, Pillow 10.1 or later and ffmpeg with ffprobe and libx264, and font files can be specified so typography stays consistent across machines. Outputs are overwritten on rerun, and the excerpt ends within the review step.

When your agent uses it

  • Editing a mobile feature demo or launch clip from screen recordings
  • Normalizing variable-frame-rate simulator recordings
  • Adding title cards, cutaways and an end card to phone footage

Example prompts

  • “Edit my three screen recordings in ./raw into a 30-second demo with a title card and an end card.”
  • “Normalize the simulator recording raw/01.mov to constant frame rate at 24fps.”
  • “Render the film spec and give me a contact sheet so I can review the transitions.”

Requirements

  • Python 3.10 or later with Pillow 10.1 or later
  • ffmpeg with ffprobe and libx264
  • macOS, only for recording with mobile-demo-record

Workflow steps

6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Plan one story. Write a short table of on-screen actions and durations. Start with
  2. Capture real footage with mobile-demo-record. Use demo data and a separate take
  3. Normalize before choosing cuts. Simulator recordings have variable frame rates
  4. Compose using a JSON spec beside the recordings
  5. Review a contact sheet and play the entire film
  6. Deliver the film and identify the build, environment, staged data, and omitted steps.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 6b94a61. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

Ships 2 files in scripts/ (Python), which the agent can run.

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • python3
    • pip

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use pip, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Mobile Demo Film Editor loads about 1.8k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 64 tokens; SKILL.md has 866 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~64
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1.8k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 866 words (~1,843 tokens).

“Use this skill to edit a new demo from real app recordings. The bundled renderer produces silent video with configurable dimensions, frame rate, framing, and fades. Defaults are 1080x1920 at 30fps, with a phone frame on a warm paper backdrop…”
