defenseSpots manipulation tactics such as DARVO, triangulation and gaslighting in a situation you describe, then suggests counter-moves for each.
Defense Mode runs through `/palpatine:defense` in Claude Code or `$palpatine:defense` in Codex, or starts on its own when you say someone is manipulating you or ask whether something is a power play. Replies follow a fixed format: the pattern detected with a one-line description, the indicators that triggered it, what the other person is trying to achieve, and a counter.
The skill carries a library of patterns, each with a definition, signs to look for and numbered counter steps. DARVO is met by not justifying or arguing and by repeating the original issue, triangulation by going direct and naming what is happening, and gaslighting by documenting events and trusting records over memory. Each pattern is also tied to numbered laws from the repository's power-strategy framing, and an OpenAI agent config ships with it.
4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 53a3ac4. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

Manipulation Defense Advisor loads about 1.9k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 24 tokens; SKILL.md has 972 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 972 words (~1,864 tokens).
“Invoked via Claude Code /palpatine:defense or Codex $palpatine:defense, or auto-detected when user says "manipulating me", "is this a power play", "someone is doing X to me".”

Manipulation Defense Advisor fits situations like: you suspect a coworker or acquaintance is manipulating you in conversation; working out whether a message or behavior is a power play; preparing a calm reply to a confrontation that keeps being turned back on you.
Run `npx skills add NovusEdge/palpatine --skill defense -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (plugins/palpatine/skills/defense in NovusEdge/palpatine) into .claude/skills/defense in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add NovusEdge/palpatine --skill defense -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (plugins/palpatine/skills/defense in NovusEdge/palpatine) into .agents/skills/defense in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add NovusEdge/palpatine --skill defense -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/defense, .gemini/skills/defense, .github/skills/defense and .opencode/skills/defense in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Manipulation Defense Advisor is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Manipulation Defense Advisor has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1.9k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 7.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
