cmux-cloud-vmOperates cmux Cloud machines from the cmux CLI, running durable remote commands or detached agents and presenting their workspaces, with authorization limits on destructive steps.
Work happens on an existing cmux Cloud machine and workspace. Machine terminals persist when panes close or the Mac disconnects, so the agent works headlessly and opens a pane or shares a URL only when there is a result to inspect. It starts with discovery commands (cmux vm --help, cmux auth status, cmux vm ls --json), and uses cmux route to inspect placement without creating a machine, reading its would_provision, limits and capabilities rather than assuming plan caps.
A table picks the operation: cmux vm run for a bounded command with an exit code, cmux vm agent for a detached coding agent, cmux vm dev with --dry-run for a project with a dev layout, vm tree and terminal read to observe, and terminal wait-exit then output for completion. A finished wait is not proof that tests passed, so the agent reports the real exit result. Provisioning, forking, resetting, resizing and destructive cleanup need your authorization, tokens stay on the host, and credentials are not copied into a machine unless you ask.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit f6532b1. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are bash).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
cmux Cloud Machines loads about 864 tokens when it runs, and up to ~27k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 50 tokens; SKILL.md has 422 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 422 words (~864 tokens).
“Use an existing machine and a workspace for the task. Machine terminals persist when panes close or the Mac disconnects. Work headlessly; open a pane or share a URL when there is a result for the user to inspect.”

Work happens on an existing cmux Cloud machine and workspace. cmux Cloud Machines fits situations like: running a long command or test on a cmux Cloud machine that must survive disconnects; starting a detached coding agent on a remote machine; checking what a cmux Cloud machine is running without opening panes; showing a verified remote result to the user in a pane or by URL.
Run `npx skills add manaflow-ai/cmux --skill cmux-cloud-vm -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/cmux-cloud-vm in manaflow-ai/cmux) into .claude/skills/cmux-cloud-vm in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add manaflow-ai/cmux --skill cmux-cloud-vm -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/cmux-cloud-vm in manaflow-ai/cmux) into .agents/skills/cmux-cloud-vm in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add manaflow-ai/cmux --skill cmux-cloud-vm -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/cmux-cloud-vm, .gemini/skills/cmux-cloud-vm, .github/skills/cmux-cloud-vm and .opencode/skills/cmux-cloud-vm in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: cmux Cloud Machines is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: The cmux app on a Mac, signed in; The cmux CLI with access to cmux Cloud; Your authorization for provisioning or destructive actions.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
cmux Cloud Machines has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 864 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 26k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
