ray-obsidianSets up, audits or incrementally upgrades a local Obsidian vault for knowledge work and content production, without overwriting or moving existing notes.
The skill first pins down the vault root from a path you give, a .ray-obsidian.json manifest or a recognizable folder layout, and asks one question if it is still unsure; it never guesses from a folder name. It then runs vault_setup.py check, previews with a dry run, and only creates missing folders and template files, preserving every existing file and leaving the .obsidian folder untouched.
The template separates source material, long-term knowledge, creative work and publishing, with an inbox for ideas and folders for candidate topics, writing tasks, article drafts and spoken-script drafts, plus a feedback review step. After initializing, it re-checks that the vault is ready and hands the vault path to the ray-writer skill. No plugins, sync service or Git are required, and the skill text is in Chinese.

Ray Obsidian Vault Setup loads about 625 tokens when it runs, and up to ~2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 62 tokens; SKILL.md has 129 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 129 words (~625 tokens).

Ray Obsidian Vault Setup fits situations like: creating a new Obsidian vault for long-term knowledge and writing; checking whether an existing vault has the structure the Ray writing skills expect; adding missing folders and templates to a vault without touching its notes.
Run `npx skills add imraywang/rayskills --skill ray-obsidian -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/ray-obsidian in imraywang/rayskills) into .claude/skills/ray-obsidian in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add imraywang/rayskills --skill ray-obsidian -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/ray-obsidian in imraywang/rayskills) into .agents/skills/ray-obsidian in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add imraywang/rayskills --skill ray-obsidian -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/ray-obsidian, .gemini/skills/ray-obsidian, .github/skills/ray-obsidian and .opencode/skills/ray-obsidian in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Ray Obsidian Vault Setup needs the command-line tools its instructions call (python3). Our summary lists: python3 to run vault_setup.py.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Ray Obsidian Vault Setup has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 625 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 1.4k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
