academic-paper-reviewerSimulates a journal peer review of a manuscript with a five-seat reviewer panel, an editorial synthesizer and several review modes.
The skill works out the paper's field, then sets up four reviewer identities (a journal-fit reviewer and three peer reviewers) and adds a fixed Devil's Advocate as the fifth seat. The five perspectives cover journal fit, methodology, domain expertise, cross-disciplinary viewpoints and challenges to the core argument. A separate editorial synthesizer combines them into a structured Editorial Decision and a Revision Roadmap.
It offers several modes: a full review, a re-review that checks whether revisions address earlier comments, a quick assessment, a methodology focus, a Socratic guided mode and a calibration mode for measuring reviewer accuracy. Seven agent files, mode protocols, editorial decision standards, quality rubrics and worked examples ship with it, and the instructions include routing rules for choosing between sibling skills. The role separation organizes perspectives and is not a claim of independent error processes.

Academic Paper Reviewer loads about 11k tokens when it runs, and up to ~70k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 226 tokens; SKILL.md has 4,405 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 4,405 words (~11,076 tokens).
“Simulates a complete international journal peer review process: automatically identifies the paper's field, dynamically configures 4 card-backed identities (Journal-Fit Reviewer + 3 peer reviewers), and adds the fixed Devil's Advocate as the fifth execution seat. The five role-separated perspectives cover…”

Academic Paper Reviewer fits situations like: getting a simulated peer review of a manuscript before submission; checking whether a revised paper addresses the reviewers' comments; stress-testing the main argument of a paper with a devil's advocate pass; turning review feedback into a revision roadmap.
Run `npx skills add Imbad0202/academic-research-skills --skill academic-paper-reviewer -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (academic-paper-reviewer in Imbad0202/academic-research-skills) into .claude/skills/academic-paper-reviewer in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add Imbad0202/academic-research-skills --skill academic-paper-reviewer -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (academic-paper-reviewer in Imbad0202/academic-research-skills) into .agents/skills/academic-paper-reviewer in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add Imbad0202/academic-research-skills --skill academic-paper-reviewer -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/academic-paper-reviewer, .gemini/skills/academic-paper-reviewer, .github/skills/academic-paper-reviewer and .opencode/skills/academic-paper-reviewer in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Academic Paper Reviewer needs the command-line tools its instructions call (python3).
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Academic Paper Reviewer has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 11k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 44k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 59k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
