paper-know-journalResearches a named academic journal's submission requirements, formatting rules, fees, review speed and community feedback, and writes one Chinese markdown report.
Given a journal name, and optionally an article type or output folder, this skill researches how to submit to it and writes one report named KnowJournal followed by the journal name, in Chinese markdown. It begins by running scripts/init_workspace.py, which creates an isolated hidden workspace under .bensz-api, a test folder and a safe output path, so all intermediate files stay there and only the final report is delivered.
Research must be done online. It covers official sources (the journal site, author guidelines, submission system, publisher, fee and editorial policy pages) and community sources such as SciRev, LetPub, ResearchGate and Reddit, which count only as experience clues. It checks article types, word, abstract, figure and reference limits, formatting rules, open-access mode and fees, review timing, and samples a few recent articles. Sources are logged in sources.json by type, and validate_report.py checks the report. It is not for choosing a journal for a manuscript, writing the paper or downloading PDFs.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit b8b4142. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

Journal Submission Research loads about 1.2k tokens when it runs, and up to ~2.7k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 81 tokens; SKILL.md has 186 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

python3 /path/to/paper-know-journal/scripts/init_workspace.py \
--journal "Cancer Cell" \
--cwd "$PWD"脚本会打印 workspace_dir、output_path、test_dir、manifest_path、sources_path。所有中间产物写入 workspace_dir。
python3 /path/to/paper-know-journal/scripts/init_workspace.py \
--journal "Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer" \
--cwd "$PWD" \
--output-dir "/path/to/output" \
调研时维护 sources.json:
article_samples:近期代表性已发表文章。每条来源至少记录 title、url、source_type、accessed_at、key_facts。
资料处理规则见 references/source-policy.md。报告结构见 references/report-template.md。
python3 /path/to/paper-know-journal/scripts/validate_report.py \
--report "KnowJournal-Cancer Cell.md" \

config.yaml:skill_info.version;公开 API、协议、目录或配置变更同步文档与 CHANGELOG.md。 <!-- End of canonical common constraints. -->

With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add huangwb8/ChineseResearchLaTeX --skill paper-know-journal -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Journal Submission Research needs Python for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (python3). Our summary lists: Python 3 for the bundled scripts; Web access to the journal site and community sources.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Journal Submission Research is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.2k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 1.5k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Journal Submission Research: Academic Research Pipeline (Imbad0202/academic-research-skills, 51k stars), Academic Research Suite for Codex (Imbad0202/academic-research-skills-codex, 12k stars), Scientific Writing (neflibata-feng/MyArxiv-Agent, 126 stars) and Research Claw (AlphaLab-USTC/ResearchClaw, 134 stars).
