walkontable-devRules for changing Handsontable's Walkontable rendering engine: the TableView boundary, dependency injection through wire.ts and DOM geometry reads via GeometryReader.
Walkontable is the engine behind Handsontable's viewport calculation, DOM rendering, scroll sync and overlays. Its rules and traps are in the AGENTS.md file inside the walkontable folder and its architecture in the .ai notes. The source is TypeScript under src/3rdparty/walkontable/src, excluded from the main tsconfig and built and tested by its own pipeline. Plugins and core reach it only through TableView or the public Core API, and DOM logic inside it is wrapped in abstraction modules.
Two rules are mandatory and lint-enforced. Dependency injection runs through wire.ts, the single composition root where buildContext returns an EngineContext, and each module has a co-located factory that builds its dependencies, stored in a private deps field with the type inferred from the factory. Stable owners are injected, while volatile per-draw objects are read fresh from the owner. DOM geometry reads go through the GeometryReader proxy. New modules start by copying an existing one, with the scroll module as the simplest template.

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 68b5e97. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
npmpnpmnodeFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use npm and pnpm, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Walkontable Engine Development loads about 3.1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 59 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,222 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 1,222 words (~3,055 tokens).
“Walkontable is the rendering engine (viewport calculation, DOM rendering, scroll sync, overlays). Rules and traps live in handsontable/src/3rdparty/walkontable/AGENTS.md; architecture in handsontable/src/3rdparty/walkontable/.ai/ARCHITECTURE.md and .ai/CONCERNS.md.”

Walkontable Engine Development fits situations like: modifying the Walkontable overlay system or viewport calculations; changing scroll handling or DOM management inside the rendering engine; working on the TableView bridge between core Handsontable and Walkontable; adding a new module that needs injected dependencies.
Run `npx skills add handsontable/handsontable --skill walkontable-dev -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/walkontable-dev in handsontable/handsontable) into .claude/skills/walkontable-dev in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add handsontable/handsontable --skill walkontable-dev -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/walkontable-dev in handsontable/handsontable) into .agents/skills/walkontable-dev in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add handsontable/handsontable --skill walkontable-dev -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/walkontable-dev, .gemini/skills/walkontable-dev, .github/skills/walkontable-dev and .opencode/skills/walkontable-dev in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Walkontable Engine Development needs the command-line tools its instructions call (npm, pnpm and node). Our summary lists: A checkout of the Handsontable repository.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use npm, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Walkontable Engine Development has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 3.1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 12k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
