coordinate-systemsExplains Handsontable's physical, visual and renderable row and column coordinate spaces and how to convert between them with IndexMapper, for debugging misplaced rows or columns.
Physical indexes never change and always match the source data array; visual indexes change under filtering, sorting, trimming or moving, though a hidden row or column keeps its visual index; and renderable indexes are DOM positions that mostly stay internal to the rendering engine, which receives already-processed data and renders it from zero to N. A table pairs each coordinate with when to use it: physical for reading or writing source data and for persistent state like sort order, and visual for user-facing positions, selection and the public getDataAtCol API.
It distinguishes a HidingMap, used by hidden-columns and hidden-rows plugins, where the index stays in visual space but is skipped during rendering, from a TrimmingMap, used by trim-rows and filter plugins, where the index is removed from visual space entirely. A named gotcha is that the filters plugin's condition collection uses physical indexes while getDataAtCol takes visual ones, and with manual column move active the two orders diverge, so a conversion through IndexMapper's visual-to-physical or physical-to-visual methods is needed before crossing that boundary.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 68b5e97. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

Handsontable Coordinate Systems loads about 721 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 61 tokens; SKILL.md has 246 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 246 words (~721 tokens).
“The public API mainly uses visual indexes, sometimes physical. Walkontable receives data already filtered, sorted, and trimmed and renders it 0 to N; it also uses "source index" and "render index" internally for virtualization.”

Run `npx skills add handsontable/handsontable --skill coordinate-systems -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/coordinate-systems in handsontable/handsontable) into .claude/skills/coordinate-systems in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add handsontable/handsontable --skill coordinate-systems -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/coordinate-systems in handsontable/handsontable) into .agents/skills/coordinate-systems in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add handsontable/handsontable --skill coordinate-systems -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/coordinate-systems, .gemini/skills/coordinate-systems, .github/skills/coordinate-systems and .opencode/skills/coordinate-systems in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Handsontable Coordinate Systems is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Handsontable Coordinate Systems has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 721 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
