handsontable-editor-devGuides building a new Handsontable cell editor through its four-state lifecycle, DOM setup, viewport-aware positioning and async validation, matching the grid's existing editor classes.
The skill centers on the editor lifecycle state machine: VIRGIN before an editor has opened, EDITING while it is visible and accepting input, WAITING once editing has finished but an async validator has not resolved, and FINISHED once validation completes and the editor closes. States must advance in order, never skipping WAITING on an async validation path, and can only move backward through a full reset. A new editor extends BaseEditor, lives under its own folder with a main class file and a re-export, and registers in a shared registry and factory file.
Required overrides cover init, prepare, getValue, setValue, open, close, focus, beginEditing and finishEditing, and finishEditing supports the WAITING state for async validation. Positioning goes through getEditedCellRect rather than manual math, which breaks with frozen rows or columns and scrolled viewports. Both full edit mode, where Enter opens the editor, and fast edit mode, where typing a character opens it, are supported. The textarea and dropdown editors serve as reference implementations. The excerpt breaks off at an IME gotcha.

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

Handsontable Cell Editor Developer loads about 3.8k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 64 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,967 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 1,967 words (~3,764 tokens).
“Four states: VIRGIN (never opened), EDITING (visible, accepting input), WAITING (editing finished, awaiting async validation), FINISHED (validation complete, editor closed). Move through the states in order: never skip one (VIRGIN straight to FINISHED, or past WAITING on async validation), and…”

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Handsontable Cell Editor Developer is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Handsontable Cell Editor Developer has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 3.8k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 15k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
