handsontable-code-reviewReviews Handsontable monorepo changes across architecture, code quality, performance and accessibility, and tests, with a confidence rating on every finding.
This skill reviews a diff, staged changes, a branch or a pull request in the Handsontable monorepo along four dimensions, or just one when you ask for a scoped check such as accessibility only. It starts by collecting the changes with `git diff` or `git diff --staged`, applies the checklist in the matching reference file for each dimension and reports the findings. It also serves as a design lens while implementing core changes.
The architecture file covers SOLID, Law of Demeter, plugin decoupling, conflict ownership, coordinate-system correctness and the breaking-changes policy. Code quality covers custom ESLint rules, JSDoc, naming, cognitive complexity, duplication and the TypeScript boundary. The performance and accessibility file covers large-array safety, render batching, memory cleanup, WCAG 2.1 AA, keyboard navigation and ARIA. The tests file asks for a named test for each new interaction path, scoped mutation when unit tests change, and a ticket on every weakened or deleted assertion.
Reviews flag only changed lines and give each finding a high, medium or low confidence, keeping the low ones so you can filter. Anything a linter, type-checker or compiler would catch is left to CI, and the review runs no build or tests apart from the scoped mutation run when unit tests change. Findings are limited to what a senior engineer would raise.
3 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 68b5e97. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
gitFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Handsontable Code Review loads about 999 tokens when it runs, and up to ~4.2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 204 tokens; SKILL.md has 424 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 424 words (~999 tokens).
“Apply all four dimensions for a full review. For a scoped request ("just check a11y"), read only the relevant dimension.”

Run `npx skills add handsontable/handsontable --skill handsontable-code-review -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/handsontable-code-review in handsontable/handsontable) into .claude/skills/handsontable-code-review in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add handsontable/handsontable --skill handsontable-code-review -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Handsontable Code Review needs the command-line tools its instructions call (git). Our summary lists: A checkout of the Handsontable monorepo; Git.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Handsontable Code Review has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 999 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 3.2k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
