company-researchBuilds a company research brief covering executive quotes, product strategy, transformation efforts and org context, tailored to interview prep, competitor or partnership work.
The brief draws on public sources such as interviews, earnings calls, blog posts and case studies to describe a company from a product-management angle. It follows a seven-part framework: company overview, executive quotes from leaders such as the CEO and VP Product, product insights, transformation strategies (digital, AI, agile), organizational impact of product management, future roadmap and product-led growth.
It works best when you name the company and the reason for the research, since interview prep, competitive analysis, partnership evaluation or market entry change what the brief emphasizes; anything passed with the invocation counts as already answered, and with nothing supplied it asks. A template and two sample briefs, one for life sciences, are included. It is not financial analysis: valuation and stock performance are out of scope.
9 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 1b5a524. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are markdown).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
github.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Company Research Brief loads about 3.8k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 50 tokens; SKILL.md has 907 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 907 words (~3,781 tokens).
“Create a comprehensive company profile that extracts executive insights, product strategy, transformation initiatives, and organizational dynamics from publicly available sources. Use this to understand competitive landscape, evaluate partnership opportunities, benchmark best practices, prepare for interviews, or inform market entry decisions…”

Run `npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill company-research -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/company-research in deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills) into .claude/skills/company-research in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill company-research -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/company-research in deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills) into .agents/skills/company-research in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill company-research -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/company-research, .gemini/skills/company-research, .github/skills/company-research and .opencode/skills/company-research in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Company Research Brief is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: Web access to public sources about the company.
SKILL.md names 1 domain. In commands or code: github.com; the agent is likely to contact it when it follows the instructions. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Company Research Brief has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 3.8k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 15k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
