Video To Gif is an agent skill from cognyai/claude-code-marketing-skills. Convert an MP4 (e.g. a HyperFrames render or a screen recording) to a high-quality GIF using FFmpeg's two-pass palette method. Picks the right preset for the target surface — Slack/DMs/Twitter/email/Reddit/GitHub — so you don't ship a 40MB GIF to a 5MB inbox.
Its SKILL.md is about 2k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Media & Creative, covering Video production, Email management and Messaging and chat bots. It works with FFmpeg, GitHub, Reddit and Slack. The repository describes itself as: Marketing skills for Claude Code — SEO audits and implementation, ad analysis, ad optimization. Free skills need no account. $9/mo for live Search Console, Bing & LinkedIn data.
6 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit a062fb4. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
BashReadWriteFrom allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
ffmpegffprobebrewaptFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Video To Gif loads about 2k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 68 tokens; SKILL.md has 820 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
sudo apt install ffmpegallowed-tools: Bash, Read, WriteAutomated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Without a licence we can't republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 820 words (~1,957 tokens).
“Convert a video (MP4, MOV, WebM) to a GIF that's actually small and actually looks good on the surface you're posting to. Pairs naturally with /tiktok-launch-video, /reddit-launch-video, and /linkedin-launch-video for sharing renders in places where MP4 isn't supported (Slack threads…”

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Video To Gif needs the command-line tools its instructions call (ffmpeg, ffprobe, brew and apt). Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Bash, Read, Write.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (runs commands with sudo; pre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: bash)), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
No licence was found for Video To Gif or its repository. Without one, default copyright applies: ask the author before reusing or redistributing it.
About 2k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 7.8k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
