woocommerce-local-envStarts, stops, restarts, and troubleshoots the WooCommerce Core wp-env setup and its asset build watchers without re-reading the setup docs.
This skill prefers short root pnpm scripts such as a single start command and a restart command, falling back to filtered package commands when those aliases aren't available, and treats watch commands as user-owned long-running processes to run in a separate terminal rather than something it keeps alive itself.
It covers first-time setup, checking node, pnpm, and php versions and installing dependencies only when they're missing or stale, then starting the environment and recommending a targeted watcher, such as admin, blocks, or classic assets, for focused work instead of the full build. The dev site serves at a fixed local port, with a separate port reserved for tests.
4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 0966a16. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
pnpmdockernodephpcomposercurlFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use pnpm, docker and curl, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
WooCommerce Local Environment Runner loads about 1.1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 96 tokens; SKILL.md has 389 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 389 words (~1,132 tokens).
“Use this skill to get WooCommerce Core running locally without re-reading plugins/woocommerce/README.md and .wp-env.json.”
Just SKILL.md in .ai/skills/woocommerce-local-env of woocommerce/woocommerce.

WooCommerce Local Environment Runner fits situations like: getting WooCommerce Core running locally; diagnosing why the local WooCommerce site isn't responding; choosing a targeted watcher instead of the full asset build.
Run `npx skills add woocommerce/woocommerce --skill woocommerce-local-env -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.ai/skills/woocommerce-local-env in woocommerce/woocommerce) into .claude/skills/woocommerce-local-env in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add woocommerce/woocommerce --skill woocommerce-local-env -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.ai/skills/woocommerce-local-env in woocommerce/woocommerce) into .agents/skills/woocommerce-local-env in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add woocommerce/woocommerce --skill woocommerce-local-env -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/woocommerce-local-env, .gemini/skills/woocommerce-local-env, .github/skills/woocommerce-local-env and .opencode/skills/woocommerce-local-env in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, WooCommerce Local Environment Runner needs the command-line tools its instructions call (pnpm, docker, node, php, composer and curl). Our summary lists: Node.js; pnpm; PHP.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use docker and curl, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
WooCommerce Local Environment Runner has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1.1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
