At a glance

Coordinates several coding agents in parallel through the Superset CLI, each in its own workspace, with a dependency table, bounded worker prompts and structured results.

  • Works in 4 steps: Run superset auth whoami --json. → Run superset terminals --help and… → If those commands are absent, run… → …
  • Splitting a large coding job across parallel agents in separate workspaces
  • SKILL.md covers Establish the control surface, Plan the work, Define the worker protocol and Dispatch workers, plus 3 more sections
  • Instructions only: no scripts, shell commands, URLs or credentials in SKILL.md

What it does

The agent acts as coordinator while Superset supplies session transport. It first confirms the control surface with `superset auth whoami --json`, then checks that `superset terminals` offers `list`, `read`, `send` and `close`, running `superset update` if not and never inventing substitute commands. It resolves the host, agent and workspace through the `hosts`, `agents` and `workspaces` list commands, passes the workspace explicitly, and avoids `--agent superset`, which creates a chat session that terminal commands cannot control.

Planning means keeping a compact table in the coordinator's own context with task, dependencies, workspace, host, terminal session ID, status (pending, ready, running, completed, blocked or failed) and result. Independent tasks and shallow dependency chains are preferred, parallel editing gets separate workspaces or branches, and Superset organization tasks are left alone unless you ask. Each worker receives a bounded prompt with a task ID, objective, file scope, acceptance criteria, verification commands, needed findings, a warning against widening scope and a completion envelope.

When your agent uses it

  • Splitting a large coding job across parallel agents in separate workspaces
  • Monitoring worker agents and reading their progress
  • Handing work from one agent to another with dependencies tracked

Example prompts

  • “Spin up one agent per package to fix these three lint failures in parallel.”
  • “What are my workers doing right now?”
  • “Run these four refactors in parallel and report back with a combined summary.”

Requirements

  • The Superset CLI, signed in, with `superset terminals` support
  • A host and a terminal-capable agent configured in Superset
  • Pre-approved tools (allowed-tools): Bash(superset:*)

Workflow steps

4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Run superset auth whoami --json.
  2. Run superset terminals --help and require list, read, send, and close.
  3. If those commands are absent, run superset update and recheck. Do not invent or substitute unsupported orchestration commands.
  4. Resolve the workspace, host, and terminal-capable agent before dispatching

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 5021353. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:

    • Bash(superset:*)

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are bash).

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Superset Agent Orchestration loads about 1.9k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 129 tokens; SKILL.md has 823 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~129
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1.9k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 823 words (~1,935 tokens).

“Coordinate terminal agents with Superset's workspace, agent, and terminal commands. Treat this as a coordinator-driven protocol: Superset provides session transport, while the coordinator owns task dependencies and completion state.”

How do I install Superset Agent Orchestration in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add superset-sh/superset --skill orchestrate -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (plugins/superset/skills/orchestrate in superset-sh/superset) into .claude/skills/orchestrate in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Superset Agent Orchestration in Codex?

Run `npx skills add superset-sh/superset --skill orchestrate -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (plugins/superset/skills/orchestrate in superset-sh/superset) into .agents/skills/orchestrate in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.

Can I use Superset Agent Orchestration in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add superset-sh/superset --skill orchestrate -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/orchestrate, .gemini/skills/orchestrate, .github/skills/orchestrate and .opencode/skills/orchestrate in your project.

What does Superset Agent Orchestration need to run?

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Superset Agent Orchestration is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: The Superset CLI, signed in, with `superset terminals` support; A host and a terminal-capable agent configured in Superset. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Bash(superset:*).

Does Superset Agent Orchestration access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Superset Agent Orchestration safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

What licence does Superset Agent Orchestration use?

Superset Agent Orchestration has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.

How many tokens does Superset Agent Orchestration use?

About 1.9k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 7.7k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.

What are the alternatives to Superset Agent Orchestration?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Superset Agent Orchestration: OMA Multi-Agent Orchestrator (first-fluke/oh-my-agent, 1.3k stars), Swarm Parallel Dispatch (langchain-ai/langchain-skills, 1.3k stars), Cursor Orchestrate (cursor/plugins, 10k stars) and Launching Agent Teams (lexler/skill-factory, 239 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
