At a glance

Drives an app on a Limrun cloud iOS simulator from any OS: launch, tap, type, read the accessibility tree and logs, take screenshots, record video and reach local services.

  • Seeing or testing an iOS app after a build without a local simulator
  • SKILL.md covers Auth and CLI, Installing an app bundle, Fold an iPhone Duo and Targeting the right instance, plus 14 more sections
  • Calls npm and git; reaches console.limrun.com; needs LIM_API_KEY
  • Taking a screenshot or recording a video of the running app

What it does

Everything runs through the lim CLI against a cloud simulator, so it works from Linux, Windows, macOS, a VM or a container, and the skill forbids using local Xcode, local simulators or local macOS tools. It assumes the app was already built for the simulator by a build skill, limrun-xcode-bazel for Bazel workspaces or limrun-xcode for xcodebuild projects, or that a pre-built .ipa or .app folder is synced from disk.

The agent checks what is attached with lim xcode get and lim ios list, creates a simulator with lim ios create when none exists, and shares the signed stream URL with you as a Markdown link so you can watch live. Beyond launching and tapping, the description lists reading the element tree, app logs and simulator syslog, screenshots, video recording, a localhost bridge, a video file as the camera, clipboard, user defaults, notifications and timed action chains. Authentication is lim login or the LIM_API_KEY variable.

When your agent uses it

  • Seeing or testing an iOS app after a build without a local simulator
  • Taking a screenshot or recording a video of the running app
  • Reading app logs while reproducing a bug on a simulator
  • Letting the simulator reach a development server on localhost

Example prompts

  • “Launch the app on the simulator and send me a screenshot of the home screen.”
  • “Tap the Sign In button, type the test email, and read the accessibility tree afterward.”
  • “Record a short video of the onboarding flow and show me the app logs from that run.”

Requirements

  • The lim CLI, installed with npm install --global lim
  • A Limrun login or LIM_API_KEY
  • An app built for the iOS simulator

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 4ec5b6e. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • npm
    • git

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:

    • console.limrun.com

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:

    • LIM_API_KEY

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Limrun iOS Simulator loads about 5.2k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 211 tokens; SKILL.md has 2,259 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~211
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~5.2k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
