What it does

This is the maintainer playbook for the context-mode repository. It orchestrates a large team of dynamic subagents per task, from ten to twenty, to triage issues, review and merge pull requests, cut releases, fix bugs, validate environment variables, test adapters, sync branches and write LinkedIn posts or release announcements. Separate guide files cover agent teams, communication, marketing, releases, PR review, test-driven development, issue triage and validation.

The skill opens with a long owner directive that outranks everything below it. It demands that agents verify claims by actually reading code instead of trusting a report that something was read, use reference adapters and plugins as evidence, write code test-first, and weigh changes from a product and business view, for example by never rewriting a contributor's config. Blocking gates named in the file include claim verification and a test-first rule.

When your agent uses it

  • Triaging a backlog of GitHub issues on the context-mode repo
  • Reviewing and merging contributor pull requests
  • Cutting a release and announcing it
  • Validating adapters across platforms or syncing branches

Example prompts

  • “Triage the open context-mode issues and group them by adapter.”
  • “Review the newest contributor pull request and verify its claims by reading the code.”
  • “Prepare the next release and draft the LinkedIn announcement.”

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 2a7a92a. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • gh
    • npx
    • npm
    • git

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Links to these hosts (documentation or services it may open):

    • github.com

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

Context cost

Context Mode Ops loads about 6k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 89 tokens; SKILL.md has 3,266 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 3,266 words (~6,025 tokens).
