cmux-customizationEdits cmux settings, custom actions, workspace layouts, Dock controls and viewer options safely, keeping the user's config intact and validating changes first.
The first move is picking the right surface for a request: app preferences in the global cmux.json, custom actions, layouts, tab bar buttons, plus-button behavior and Command Palette entries in global or project-local cmux.json, Dock controls in dock.json, terminal rendering in the Ghostty config, and workspace names and colors through the cmux CLI. If Ghostty config can handle a request, the agent says so instead of inventing cmux settings.
Edits follow the schema, leave existing config intact and are validated before the agent reports completion. Project-local files let layouts and commands travel with a repo and override global entries with the same ID. Viewer settings for the browser, Markdown, file editor, file explorer and diff viewer live in the global file, with a viewer matrix and examples as references, and cmux import can bring fonts and colors over from iTerm2, Kitty, WezTerm and other terminals after a dry run.
7 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit f6532b1. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are bash and json).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
cmux Customization loads about 1.7k tokens when it runs, and up to ~4.5k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 111 tokens; SKILL.md has 702 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 702 words (~1,749 tokens).
“Keep the user's config intact, prefer schema-backed edits, and validate before reporting completion.”

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add manaflow-ai/cmux --skill cmux-customization -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/cmux-customization, .gemini/skills/cmux-customization, .github/skills/cmux-customization and .opencode/skills/cmux-customization in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: cmux Customization is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: cmux installed on macOS.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
cmux Customization has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1.7k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 7k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 2.7k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
