gdeltQueries the GDELT 2.0 Doc API for multilingual global news, article lists, tone timelines and volume charts, with a helper script and a request throttle.
A bundled script, `scripts/doc.py`, builds a GDELT query from your term, with optional operators such as `domain:bloomberg.com` or `sourcelang:eng`, and picks a mode: `artlist` for articles, `timelinetone` for a 15-minute tone series from -10 to +10, `timelinevol` or `timelinevolinfo` for volume over time, or `tonechart` for a tone histogram.
GDELT is a rolling recent-window API, not a historical archive, so the script turns relative timespans into absolute UTC timestamps and echoes them in `meta.window` so a run can be repeated, though the same query asked later returns different results. Requests are throttled to one every 5 seconds. Exit codes cover success, invalid arguments, HTTP or non-JSON errors and network failure, with a wait-and-retry hint for the rate-limit message. It suits questions about what the world is saying on a topic, including non-English and non-financial sources.

GDELT News and Tone Search loads about 1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 21 tokens; SKILL.md has 276 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 276 words (~1,006 tokens).

Run `npx skills add kansoku-trade/kansoku --skill gdelt -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/gdelt in kansoku-trade/kansoku) into .claude/skills/gdelt in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add kansoku-trade/kansoku --skill gdelt -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/gdelt, .gemini/skills/gdelt, .github/skills/gdelt and .opencode/skills/gdelt in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, GDELT News and Tone Search needs Python for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (python3). Our summary lists: Python 3; Network access to the GDELT Doc API.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
GDELT News and Tone Search has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
