At a glance

Coaches you to observe racing or anxious thoughts with a debugging mindset and to start a daily meditation habit, drawing on Naval Ravikant's almanack.

  • Works in 4 steps:
  • Racing thoughts at bedtime or when alone
  • SKILL.md covers R — 原文 (Reading), I — 方法论骨架 (Interpretation), A1 — 书中的应用 (Past Application) and A2 — 触发场景 (Future Trigger) ★, plus 4 more sections
  • Instructions only: no scripts, shell commands, URLs or credentials in SKILL.md

What it does

The skill treats the inner monologue as a runaway program rather than the self. Instead of fighting it, you observe it: pause, ask why this thought is here and whether it needs handling now, and label it as fear, desire or neutral. Noticing a thought is said to weaken its hold. It is drawn from the happiness chapter of The Almanack of Naval Ravikant, and the skill text is written in Chinese.

Four steps cover switching into debugging mode, classifying thoughts, starting a daily sitting (beginning at 10-20 minutes with an hour as the goal, kept up for 60 days) and a weekly written pass through old emotions, described as clearing an inbox. It tells the agent to deal with real urgent problems first and to send acute mental health crises or severe depression to medical care, since meditation does not replace treatment. The source's own caveats are noted: an hour a day is a high bar, and the benefits rest on personal experience.

When your agent uses it

  • Racing thoughts at bedtime or when alone
  • Looping on the same worry and wanting a structured way to step back
  • Starting a meditation habit and needing a simple plan
  • Struggling to focus because attention keeps drifting

Example prompts

  • “I cannot stop overthinking before bed. Walk me through observing my thoughts.”
  • “Set up a beginner meditation plan I can keep going for two months.”
  • “I keep worrying about the same meeting, so help me look at these thoughts instead of chasing them.”

Workflow steps

4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit a28de55. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Monkey Mind Meditation loads about 673 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 56 tokens; SKILL.md has 157 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~56
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~673

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

(Reading)

(Interpretation)

(Past Application)

(Future Trigger) ★

  • "monkey mind / can't stop thinking / how to meditate"

(Execution)

(Boundary) ★
