lean-ux-canvasGuides a team through Jeff Gothelf's Lean UX Canvas v2 to frame a business problem, surface assumptions and decide what to learn and test next.
The canvas is a one-page, eight-box facilitation tool that starts from a business problem rather than a solution, and the skill walks you through it box by box. The boxes cover the problem, measurable outcomes, who it is for, the assumptions being made, what to learn first and which experiments will test those assumptions. It treats the canvas as an insurance policy that turns assumptions into experiments before full development and shifts conversations from outputs to outcomes.
You can begin with a business problem or with a solution idea you were handed, which the canvas reframes as a problem. Known users, evidence so far and what the team already believes are useful extras. The package includes a template and a sample. The canvas was created by Jeff Gothelf, author of Lean UX, and version 2 improves clarity about business versus user outcomes.
8 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 1b5a524. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are markdown).

Lean UX Canvas v2 loads about 6.2k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 37 tokens; SKILL.md has 2,898 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 2,898 words (~6,191 tokens).
“Guide product managers through creating Jeff Gothelf's Lean UX Canvas (v2)—a one-page facilitation tool that frames work around a business problem to solve, not a solution to implement. Use this to align cross-functional teams around core assumptions, craft testable hypotheses…”

Run `npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill lean-ux-canvas -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/lean-ux-canvas in deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills) into .claude/skills/lean-ux-canvas in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill lean-ux-canvas -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/lean-ux-canvas in deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills) into .agents/skills/lean-ux-canvas in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill lean-ux-canvas -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/lean-ux-canvas, .gemini/skills/lean-ux-canvas, .github/skills/lean-ux-canvas and .opencode/skills/lean-ux-canvas in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Lean UX Canvas v2 is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md names 2 domains. As links in the text: jeffgothelf.com and static1.squarespace.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Lean UX Canvas v2 has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 6.2k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 25k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
