pr-checklistPre-PR checklist for the Databricks CLI repository: run the same format and lint checks as CI, scrub the diff, fill the PR template concisely and add a changelog entry.
A checklist for contributors to the Databricks CLI repository to run before opening a pull request. It lists the `./task` commands that mirror what CI runs, such as `fmt` and `checks`, and warns that the quick diff-only `-q` wrappers are not enough because CI uses the full variants.
After the commands pass, the agent scans its own diff against the upstream branch for newly added debug prints, commented-out code, TODOs without a ticket reference and files staged by accident. The PR description has to follow `.github/PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md` with its Changes, Why and Tests sections in order, stay short and replace comment placeholders with real text. When an agent wrote or helped write the PR, a single italic closing line should say so honestly. A changelog entry section follows but is cut off in the excerpt.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ced3a80. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
gitrgghdatabricksbundleFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use git and gh, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Databricks CLI PR Checklist loads about 1.5k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 13 tokens; SKILL.md has 737 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 737 words (~1,475 tokens).
“Before submitting a PR, run these commands to match what CI checks. CI uses the full variants (not the -q diff-only wrappers), so ./task lint-q alone is insufficient.”
Just SKILL.md in .agents/skills/pr-checklist of databricks/cli.

Databricks CLI PR Checklist fits situations like: getting a Databricks CLI change ready for review; making sure local checks match what CI will run; scrubbing a diff for debug prints, commented-out code and untracked TODOs; writing a pull request description that follows the repository template.
Run `npx skills add databricks/cli --skill pr-checklist -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/pr-checklist in databricks/cli) into .claude/skills/pr-checklist in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add databricks/cli --skill pr-checklist -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/pr-checklist in databricks/cli) into .agents/skills/pr-checklist in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add databricks/cli --skill pr-checklist -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/pr-checklist, .gemini/skills/pr-checklist, .github/skills/pr-checklist and .opencode/skills/pr-checklist in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Databricks CLI PR Checklist needs the command-line tools its instructions call (git, rg, gh, databricks and bundle). Our summary lists: A checkout of the Databricks CLI repository with its `./task` runner; The `gh` CLI for creating the pull request.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use git and gh, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Databricks CLI PR Checklist has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1.5k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 5.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
