bump-cli-compatUpdates the Databricks CLI's cli-compat.json with new AppKit and Agent Skills versions and opens a pull request for the change.
A maintainer skill that edits `internal/build/cli-compat.json` after an AppKit or Agent Skills release. You can pass `--appkit` and `--skills` versions without a `v` prefix, or give none and let the agent read the latest tags from GitHub with the `gh` CLI. It shows the resolved versions, asks whether they have been evaluated with no regressions, and does not continue until you confirm.
It then checks that the matching Git tags exist, including the `template-v` tag used by `apps init`, reads the current manifest, and asks whether the release needs new CLI behavior: new templates that require new logic in `apps init`, or skills that call CLI commands older versions lack. With no breaking change it updates the highest versioned entry in place, because the manifest is range-based; breaking changes take a separate path. The result is validated and a pull request is created.
6 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ced3a80. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
ReadEditWriteBashGlobGrepAskUserQuestionFrom allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
ghgitgoFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use gh and git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Bump CLI Compatibility Manifest loads about 1.3k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 79 tokens; SKILL.md has 449 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
allowed-tools: Read, Edit, Write, Bash, Glob, Grep, AskUserQuestionAutomated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 449 words (~1,263 tokens).
“Updates internal/build/cli-compat.json with new AppKit and Agent Skills versions, validates the result, and creates a PR.”
Just SKILL.md in .agents/skills/bump-cli-compat of databricks/cli.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Bump CLI Compatibility Manifest needs the command-line tools its instructions call (gh, git and go). Our summary lists: A checkout of the databricks/cli repository; The GitHub CLI (`gh`) with access to the AppKit and Agent Skills tags. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Read, Edit, Write, Bash, Glob, Grep, AskUserQuestion.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use gh and git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (pre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: bash)), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Bump CLI Compatibility Manifest has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1.3k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 5.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
