wos-paper-detailFetches the full record for a paper from Web of Science by its WoS accession number or URL and presents the metadata as a structured summary.
Given a WoS accession number or a full-record URL, the skill opens the full record page through Chrome DevTools MCP and runs a single extraction script inside the page. Using the page's CSS selectors it reads the title, authors, abstract, source, DOI, author keywords and Keywords Plus, citation counts, reference count, publication details, journal impact factor and full-text links.
The result is formatted as a structured summary, followed by suggestions to export the paper or download its PDF with the companion /wos-export and /wos-download commands. The skill warns that the full record page uses different citation selectors from the search results page, and that the source field has to be split so the journal-metrics popup text is not captured. It needs a browser session that can open Web of Science.
4 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 268b139. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are javascript).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
webofscience.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Web of Science Paper Details loads about 2.2k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 23 tokens; SKILL.md has 224 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Without a licence we can't republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 224 words (~2,165 tokens).

Run `npx skills add cookjohn/wos-skills --skill wos-paper-detail -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/wos-paper-detail in cookjohn/wos-skills) into .claude/skills/wos-paper-detail in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add cookjohn/wos-skills --skill wos-paper-detail -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/wos-paper-detail in cookjohn/wos-skills) into .agents/skills/wos-paper-detail in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add cookjohn/wos-skills --skill wos-paper-detail -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Web of Science Paper Details is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: Chrome DevTools MCP; A browser session that can open Web of Science.
SKILL.md names 1 domain. In commands or code: webofscience.com; the agent is likely to contact it when it follows the instructions. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
No licence was found for Web of Science Paper Details or its repository. Without one, default copyright applies: ask the author before reusing or redistributing it.
About 2.2k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 8.7k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
