wos-downloadWalks a Web of Science full-record page through to the publisher's site to locate and download the paper's PDF, or reports why it could not.
This skill automates fetching the full-text PDF of a paper starting from its Web of Science full record page. It navigates to the record, waits for the title block to render, finds the outbound full-text links, and follows the chosen link to the publisher's site, masking the browser's automation flag along the way. On the publisher page it waits for the PDF to load and attempts the download.
The outcome falls into one of several states that the skill reports back: a successful download to the default download folder, PDF links found that need a manual click, a login wall, a paywall, or a publisher page with no direct PDF link. It notes two limits up front: access still depends on having an institutional subscription even for open-access papers, and the in-page download trick only works when the PDF is shown on the same origin, not after a cross-origin redirect such as from Web of Science to a publisher like Wiley.
5 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 268b139. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are javascript).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Web of Science PDF Downloader loads about 1.4k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 18 tokens; SKILL.md has 330 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Without a licence we can't republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 330 words (~1,382 tokens).

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Web of Science PDF Downloader is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: A browser session on the Web of Science full-record page; An institutional subscription for papers that are not open access.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
No licence was found for Web of Science PDF Downloader or its repository. Without one, default copyright applies: ask the author before reusing or redistributing it.
About 1.4k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 5.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
