rulesExplains how the Codex Rules plugin injects project instructions and file-specific rules into a session, which rule files it reads and which settings control it.
Once the plugin is enabled, Codex Rules works automatically. It injects static project instructions at `SessionStart` and `UserPromptSubmit`, and by default adds matching file-specific rules after a Codex `apply_patch`. Dynamic `PostToolUse` output is passed in as extra context and deduplicated per plugin data session. The plugin does not rewrite tool output.
Rules are read from `CONTEXT.md`, `.omo/rules`, `.claude/rules`, `.cursor/rules`, `.github/instructions` and `.github/copilot-instructions.md`. Behavior is tuned with `CODEX_RULES_` variables: one to disable the plugin, a mode with the values both, static, dynamic or off, limits on rule and result length, and a list of enabled sources. Older `PI_RULES_` variables still work as fallbacks for people moving from `pi-rules`.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ab81169. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

Codex Rules Reference loads about 269 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 38 tokens; SKILL.md has 80 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 80 words (~269 tokens).

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add code-yeongyu/oh-my-openagent --skill rules -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/rules, .gemini/skills/rules, .github/skills/rules and .opencode/skills/rules in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Codex Rules Reference is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: The Codex Rules plugin, enabled.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Codex Rules Reference has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 269 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 1.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
