youtube-channelsBrowses YouTube channels through TranscriptAPI: resolves handles to channel IDs, lists recent uploads and pages through a channel's videos.
Every channel endpoint accepts an @handle, a channel URL or a UC channel ID, so nothing has to be resolved first. The resolve endpoint, which is free, returns the canonical channel ID. The latest endpoint, also free, returns the 15 newest videos from the RSS feed with exact view counts and ISO timestamps, which suits monitoring. The videos endpoint costs one credit per page of about 100 and can pick uploads, Shorts or live streams and sort by latest, popular or oldest. The description also lists searching within a channel.
Setup needs a `TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY` environment variable, with a reference file explaining how to get and store it. Each request carries a bearer authorization header and a User-Agent naming your agent; a bare default header is blocked by Cloudflare with a 403. The full OpenAPI spec is published for current parameters, and a second reference file holds curl examples. The skill needs internet access to transcriptapi.com and no extra runtimes.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 4f7994b. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are http and json).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
transcriptapi.comyoutube.comi1.ytimg.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
TRANSCRIPT_API_KEYFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Requires internet access to reach transcriptapi.com. No additional runtimes or dependencies needed.
From compatibility in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
YouTube Channel Tools loads about 3.3k tokens when it runs, and up to ~5.7k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 95 tokens; SKILL.md has 758 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills at commit 4f7994b, republished under its MIT licence (© ZeroPointRepo). 758 words, ~3,259 tokens.
.claude/skills/youtube-channels/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 2 other files; get the full folder from GitHub.YouTube channel tools via TranscriptAPI.com.
If $TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY is not set, read references/auth-setup.md and follow the instructions there to get and store the key.
Every request needs two headers:
Bearer $TRANSCRIPT_API_KEYHermesAgent/0.11.0, ClaudeCode/1.0). Version is optional — agent name alone is fine. Do not omit this header or send a bare default — Cloudflare will return a 403 (error code 1010) and block the request.Full OpenAPI spec: transcriptapi.com/openapi.json — consult this for the latest parameters and schemas.

Paginated list of a channel's feed (~100 per page). Use tab to pick uploads (default), Shorts, or live streams, and the optional sort to order the Videos tab by latest, popular, or oldest.

continuation | conditional | non-empty (next pages) |
Provide exactly one of channel or continuation, not both. When paginating, pass the same tab and sort on every page.
Sorting. Add sort=latest, popular, or oldest to channel/videos to get a channel's videos in the order you want, for example its most-popular uploads first. A sorted page returns about 30 videos (an unsorted page returns about 100), and every page costs the same 1 credit.
When paging, send the same sort on each request.

viewCountText | populated | populated | populated (null while live) | populated |
channelId / channelTitle / channelHandle / index | populated | null | null | null |
members_only | always false | true on membership videos | true on membership streams | always false |
members_only is true only when YouTube badges the item "Members only". Such items carry no viewCountText, because YouTube does not publish view counts for membership content.

Browses YouTube channels through TranscriptAPI: resolves handles to channel IDs, lists recent uploads and pages through a channel's videos. Every channel endpoint accepts an @handle, a channel URL or a UC channel ID, so nothing has to be resolved first. The resolve endpoint, which is free, returns the canonical channel ID.
YouTube Channel Tools fits situations like: browsing what a creator has uploaded recently from a pasted @handle; resolving a channel handle or URL to its channel ID; monitoring a channel for new uploads with exact view counts.
Run `npx skills add ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --skill youtube-channels -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/youtube-channels in ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills) into .claude/skills/youtube-channels in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --skill youtube-channels -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/youtube-channels in ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills) into .agents/skills/youtube-channels in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --skill youtube-channels -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/youtube-channels, .gemini/skills/youtube-channels, .github/skills/youtube-channels and .opencode/skills/youtube-channels in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, YouTube Channel Tools needs credentials named TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY. Our summary lists: A TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY for TranscriptAPI.com; Internet access to transcriptapi.com. Compatibility (from SKILL.md): Requires internet access to reach transcriptapi.com. No additional runtimes or dependencies needed..
SKILL.md names 3 domains. In commands or code: transcriptapi.com, youtube.com and i1.ytimg.com; the agent is likely to contact these when it follows the instructions. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
YouTube Channel Tools is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 3.3k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 13k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 2.5k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with YouTube Channel Tools: Agent Reach (Panniantong/Agent-Reach, 95k stars), Agent Reach (EdisonChenAI/agent-reach, 115 stars), 9Router Web Search (decolua/9router, 31k stars) and Scrapingbee CLI (ScrapingBee/scrapingbee-cli, 108 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
