9router-web-searchRuns web, news and public X searches through a 9Router gateway's search endpoint, choosing among providers such as Tavily, Exa, Brave and Perplexity.
The agent calls a 9Router instance given by `NINEROUTER_URL`, with `NINEROUTER_KEY` when auth is on. It lists search providers from `/v1/models/web`, checks a provider's parameters at `/v1/models/info`, then sends a POST to `/v1/search` with a model or provider and a query. Optional fields include `max_results` (default 5), `search_type` (web, news, or x for Xquik) and provider-dependent country, language, time range and domain filter.
Provider IDs end in `/search`, and combos chain several providers with automatic fallback. The description names Tavily, Exa, Brave, Serper, SearXNG, Google PSE, Linkup, SearchAPI, You.com, Perplexity and Xquik, and a table shows which options each supports. X search through Xquik needs its API key added in 9Router's provider settings, costs 1 credit per returned post and continues with a pagination cursor. Examples are given as curl and JavaScript.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ce4460e. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
curljqFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use curl, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
NINEROUTER_KEYFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
9Router Web Search loads about 1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 64 tokens; SKILL.md has 186 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from decolua/9router at commit ce4460e, republished under its MIT licence (© decolua). 186 words, ~1,035 tokens.

9Router Web Search fits situations like: searching the web or recent news through a 9Router gateway; looking up public X posts with Xquik; comparing provider-specific search options before choosing one.
Run `npx skills add decolua/9router --skill 9router-web-search -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/9router-web-search in decolua/9router) into .claude/skills/9router-web-search in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add decolua/9router --skill 9router-web-search -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/9router-web-search in decolua/9router) into .agents/skills/9router-web-search in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add decolua/9router --skill 9router-web-search -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/9router-web-search, .gemini/skills/9router-web-search, .github/skills/9router-web-search and .opencode/skills/9router-web-search in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, 9Router Web Search needs the command-line tools its instructions call (curl and jq) and credentials named NINEROUTER_KEY. Our summary lists: A 9Router instance, with `NINEROUTER_URL` set and `NINEROUTER_KEY` if auth is enabled; Provider keys configured in 9Router, for example for Xquik.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use curl, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
9Router Web Search is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
