previewOpens the Windmill dev page to preview a flow, script or app, choosing between proxy and direct mode and deciding whether the agent or the runtime starts the wmill dev server.
The skill triggers whenever a user wants to see, open or preview a flow, script or app, including right after writing one, as a form of visual verification. The Windmill dev page renders the flow graph or script editor, lets the user step through it and live-reloads on save, running locally through wmill dev on a localhost port.
Two independent choices decide how to launch it. Mode: proxy, started with --proxy-port, exposes the page on a plain localhost URL for embedders that only accept localhost (most in-chat or in-IDE preview panes), while direct mode, the default, has the browser load the page from the remote workspace's HTTPS URL with wmill dev only running the live-reload WebSocket, for a regular browser tab.
Who starts the server: the agent spawns wmill dev itself and captures the printed URL in most cases, or, only when a runtime provides an MCP preview tool that reads a launch.json configuration, that tool starts the server on demand instead. A table maps common embedder situations to the right combination of mode and starter.

Windmill Dev Page Preview loads about 1.8k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 61 tokens; SKILL.md has 940 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 940 words (~1,815 tokens).
“Use this skill any time the user wants to see, open, navigate to, visualize, or preview a flow, script, or app — and any time you've just finished writing one and want to offer visual verification.”

Windmill Dev Page Preview fits situations like: opening a visual preview of a Windmill flow, script or app; offering to show a just-written flow or script running; deciding whether a preview needs a localhost proxy or can load the direct workspace URL.
Run `npx skills add windmill-labs/windmill --skill preview -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (system_prompts/auto-generated/skills/preview in windmill-labs/windmill) into .claude/skills/preview in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add windmill-labs/windmill --skill preview -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (system_prompts/auto-generated/skills/preview in windmill-labs/windmill) into .agents/skills/preview in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add windmill-labs/windmill --skill preview -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/preview, .gemini/skills/preview, .github/skills/preview and .opencode/skills/preview in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Windmill Dev Page Preview needs the command-line tools its instructions call (go). Our summary lists: The wmill CLI, to run wmill dev.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Windmill Dev Page Preview has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1.8k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 7.3k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
