thebrain-bird-addressApplies a formal address protocol to manuscript text and TheBrain thoughts, assigning each a stable address, structured index, and verified links.
This skill applies a numbered version of a protocol it calls BIRD, splitting a book or manuscript into chapter, section, and item-level knowledge nodes and giving each one a stable address plus a structured index built from weight, type, keyword, and alias fields. It separates a node's structural role, such as part or chapter, from its knowledge type, such as concept or example, and treats mixing the two as an error to fix during migration from older versions.
Depending on what's asked for, it can analyze a single existing TheBrain thought, break unstructured prose into a full node hierarchy, produce a validated spreadsheet of the analysis, turn that spreadsheet into populated TheBrain thoughts, or export the result as Roam Research-importable data. It also fits into a three-skill chain, receiving structured input from one skill and passing ordered routes and links on to another.
8 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 287d0f4. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

BIRD Knowledge Address Protocol loads about 2.5k tokens when it runs, and up to ~8.4k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 147 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,164 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
Without a licence we can't republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 1,164 words (~2,465 tokens).
“Convert complex structural text into addressable, searchable, cross-linked book nodes for TheBrain, Excel, Roam Research, Obsidian, and AI Agents.”

BIRD Knowledge Address Protocol fits situations like: splitting a long manuscript into addressable chapter and section nodes; assigning a structured knowledge index to an existing TheBrain thought; converting a BIRD analysis into a spreadsheet or Roam JSON export.
Run `npx skills add twhsi/skills --skill thebrain-bird-address -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/thebrain-bird-address in twhsi/skills) into .claude/skills/thebrain-bird-address in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add twhsi/skills --skill thebrain-bird-address -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/thebrain-bird-address in twhsi/skills) into .agents/skills/thebrain-bird-address in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add twhsi/skills --skill thebrain-bird-address -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/thebrain-bird-address, .gemini/skills/thebrain-bird-address, .github/skills/thebrain-bird-address and .opencode/skills/thebrain-bird-address in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, BIRD Knowledge Address Protocol needs JavaScript for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (node). Our summary lists: Node.js to run the bundled Roam JSON conversion scripts.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
No licence was found for BIRD Knowledge Address Protocol or its repository. Without one, default copyright applies: ask the author before reusing or redistributing it.
About 2.5k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 9.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 5.9k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
