epub-hypercard-obsidianConverts an EPUB card book into an Obsidian folder with one Markdown file per card, keyword cards, navigation links and an optional shareable zip.
The bundled Python script `scripts/epub_to_hypercard_obsidian.py` takes an EPUB and writes an Obsidian-ready folder in a four-table HyperCard layout: a code and title, the card content, index-card hyperlinks, and previous, home and next navigation. Output includes `index.md` as the home and chapter directory, `card-*.md` for each article or chapter, `keyword-index.md`, and one `key-*.md` per keyword.
Before converting, the agent inspects the EPUB for `META-INF/container.xml`, `OEBPS/content.opf`, XHTML text files and a spine, then treats the table of contents as the directory card and the index page as the source of keyword cards. Links stay in plain `[label](file.md)` form rather than heading anchors, and every link must resolve to a file in the output folder. The `--zip` flag adds a shareable archive, and `--portable` suits sharing with GitHub, Finder or Windows. The agent reports the folder and zip paths, the card and keyword counts and the link check result.

EPUB to HyperCard Obsidian loads about 1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 105 tokens; SKILL.md has 396 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
Without a licence we can't republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 396 words (~1,024 tokens).

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, EPUB to HyperCard Obsidian needs Python for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (python3). Our summary lists: Python 3; An EPUB with XHTML chapters, a spine and index cards.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
No licence was found for EPUB to HyperCard Obsidian or its repository. Without one, default copyright applies: ask the author before reusing or redistributing it.
About 1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
