insightsPulls pattern, trend and benchmark data from the claude-view MCP server to present a behavioral analysis of your Claude Code usage, grouped by category.
This skill answers questions like what patterns do you see or how am I doing by calling the claude-view MCP server, which must be running locally (it auto-starts through the plugin hook, or can be started with `npx claude-view`). It calls `insights_get_insights` for pattern analysis across sessions, `insights_get_categories` for a hierarchical breakdown, `insights_get_insights_trends` to see how patterns change over time, and `insights_get_benchmarks` to compare against your own progress baselines.
Findings are presented grouped by category rather than as a flat list. If no insights data exists yet, the skill suggests running more sessions or triggering `classify_start_classification` to build the dataset first. The broader claude-view toolset it draws on also covers session listing and search, dashboard and token statistics, a fluency score, live session monitoring and authentication, though this skill itself focuses on the insights and classification tools.
6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ff3cdd1. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:

Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
npxFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Claude Code Behavioral Insights loads about 3.1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 42 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,030 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from tombelieber/claude-view at commit ff3cdd1, republished under its MIT licence (© tombelieber). 1,030 words, ~3,052 tokens.
.claude/skills/insights/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 1 other file; get the full folder from GitHub.You have access to the claude-view MCP server which provides tools for monitoring, analyzing, and managing Claude Code sessions. The claude-view server must be running on localhost (it auto-starts via the plugin hook).
Important: All tool names are prefixed with mcp__claude-view__. When calling a tool, always use the full prefixed name.
Error handling: If a tool returns an error about the server not being detected, tell the user to start it with npx claude-view.

Categories
Pulls pattern, trend and benchmark data from the claude-view MCP server to present a behavioral analysis of your Claude Code usage, grouped by category.
Claude Code Behavioral Insights fits situations like: asking what patterns show up across your recent Claude Code sessions; checking how your usage or habits have trended over time; comparing your current session behavior against your own past baseline.
Run `npx skills add tombelieber/claude-view --skill insights -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (packages/plugin/skills/insights in tombelieber/claude-view) into .claude/skills/insights in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add tombelieber/claude-view --skill insights -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (packages/plugin/skills/insights in tombelieber/claude-view) into .agents/skills/insights in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add tombelieber/claude-view --skill insights -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/insights, .gemini/skills/insights, .github/skills/insights and .opencode/skills/insights in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Claude Code Behavioral Insights needs the command-line tools its instructions call (npx). Our summary lists: The claude-view MCP server running locally (via npx claude-view). Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: mcp__claude-view__insights_get_insights, mcp__claude-view__insights_get_categories, mcp__claude-view__insights_get_insights_trends, mcp__claude-view__insights_get_benchmarks, mcp__claude-view__classify_start_classification.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Claude Code Behavioral Insights is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 3.1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 12k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
