coachingReviews your Claude Code habits through the claude-view server, showing an AI Fluency Score and insights and letting you add or remove personal coaching rules.
The skill talks to the claude-view MCP server, which must be running on localhost and normally starts through the plugin hook. If a tool reports that the server was not detected, the agent tells you to start it with npx claude-view. All tools carry the mcp__claude-view__ prefix, and only five coaching and insight tools are allowed for this skill.
The flow is fixed. The agent lists the coaching rules already set, fetches your AI Fluency Score out of 100, pulls behavioral insights and shows them as a coaching dashboard. If you ask for a new rule it applies one, and if you ask to drop a rule it removes it by its identifier. When no rules exist yet, it suggests starting with one or two, such as commit frequency, session length or prompt specificity. The only bundled file is a SKILL.md.tmpl template.
7 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ff3cdd1. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:

Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
npxFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Claude View Coaching loads about 3.1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 49 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,056 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from tombelieber/claude-view at commit ff3cdd1, republished under its MIT licence (© tombelieber). 1,056 words, ~3,069 tokens.
.claude/skills/coaching/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 1 other file; get the full folder from GitHub.You have access to the claude-view MCP server which provides tools for monitoring, analyzing, and managing Claude Code sessions. The claude-view server must be running on localhost (it auto-starts via the plugin hook).
Important: All tool names are prefixed with mcp__claude-view__. When calling a tool, always use the full prefixed name.
Error handling: If a tool returns an error about the server not being detected, tell the user to start it with npx claude-view.

Reviews your Claude Code habits through the claude-view server, showing an AI Fluency Score and insights and letting you add or remove personal coaching rules. The skill talks to the claude-view MCP server, which must be running on localhost and normally starts through the plugin hook. If a tool reports that the server was not detected, the agent tells you to start it with npx claude-view.
Claude View Coaching fits situations like: asking how to get better results from Claude Code; looking at your current coaching rules and AI Fluency Score; adding or removing a coaching rule for your sessions.
Run `npx skills add tombelieber/claude-view --skill coaching -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (packages/plugin/skills/coaching in tombelieber/claude-view) into .claude/skills/coaching in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add tombelieber/claude-view --skill coaching -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (packages/plugin/skills/coaching in tombelieber/claude-view) into .agents/skills/coaching in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add tombelieber/claude-view --skill coaching -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/coaching, .gemini/skills/coaching, .github/skills/coaching and .opencode/skills/coaching in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Claude View Coaching needs the command-line tools its instructions call (npx). Our summary lists: The claude-view server running on localhost, started with `npx claude-view`; The claude-view MCP server connected to your agent. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: mcp__claude-view__coaching_list_rules, mcp__claude-view__coaching_apply_rule, mcp__claude-view__coaching_remove_rule, mcp__claude-view__get_fluency_score, mcp__claude-view__insights_get_insights.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Claude View Coaching is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 3.1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 12k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
