What it does
The skill relies on a claude-view server running on localhost, which starts through the plugin hook or with npx claude-view. It first calls get_live_summary for today's aggregate cost and active session counts, then list_live_sessions when sessions are running, to get project, model, cost and agent state for each. It finishes with get_stats using today's date as the start, and presents a Daily Cost Report with the total spent in USD.
If the total is zero it reports that no usage was detected and suggests checking whether the server has indexed recent sessions. For a week or a month it uses the from and to parameters of get_stats. All tool names carry the mcp__claude-view__ prefix, and only three tools are allowed. The excerpt also lists other server tools for session search, token statistics, fluency scores and classification, but the cost report uses the three above.

Context cost
Claude Code Daily Cost Report loads about 3k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 37 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,072 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

You have access to the claude-view MCP server which provides tools for monitoring, analyzing, and managing Claude Code sessions. The claude-view server must be running on localhost (it auto-starts via the plugin hook).
Important: All tool names are prefixed with mcp__claude-view__. When calling a tool, always use the full prefixed name.
Error handling: If a tool returns an error about the server not being detected, tell the user to start it with npx claude-view.
