reading-metaskillHelps you build a lasting reading habit and learn new fields by starting with books you enjoy, reading original works first and teaching what you learn.
Drawn from Naval Ravikant's almanack, the skill treats reading as the skill behind other skills. Its principles: read what you love until you love reading, owe nobody a finished book (skip around, read several at once), go to original works before commentary, such as Darwin before Dawkins, keep a daily habit of one to two hours rather than chasing volume, and teach what you learn to others. The skill text is written in Chinese.
Four steps: pick an interesting book and start at the chapter that draws you in, switching or skipping if it feels painful after 20 minutes; set a minimum daily habit, starting at 15 minutes if needed and holding it for 7 days; add one or two foundational works to the queue for any field you want to enter; and explain what you learned each week until you could explain it to a child. It is not for book reviews or exam preparation, and it notes that an hour or two a day is unrealistic for people under pressure.
4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit a28de55. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

Reading as a Meta-Skill loads about 658 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 52 tokens; SKILL.md has 177 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
