nsfc-length-alignerChecks a Chinese NSFC grant proposal against section length budgets, reports where it runs short or long, and guides meaning-preserving expansion or trimming.
The skill turns proposal length into something measurable. It runs `scripts/check_length.py` with `--input` pointing at a proposal folder or file and `--config config.yaml`, optionally adds `--pdf` for a real page count, and writes `length_report.md` and `length_report.json` into a hidden `.bensz-api/task-` working folder inside the proposal directory. For projects built on the NSFC_Young or NSFC_General templates, it follows the `main.tex` input tree so only files that actually compile into the PDF are counted and commented-out inputs are ignored.
The default budget in `config.yaml:length_standard` is an example based on 2026 guidance: background 30% (6-10 pages), research content 50% (12-15 pages) and research foundation 20% (5-8 pages), with a total of at most 28 pages and 30 as the ceiling. You are told to check it against the current year's guidelines and not to shrink fonts or spacing to fit. Rewrites should keep the original meaning, guided by `references/MEANING_PRESERVING_REWRITE_RUBRIC.md`. The folder includes a demo proposal and a report template, and the SKILL.md is written in Chinese.

NSFC Proposal Length Aligner loads about 1.3k tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.8k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 20 tokens; SKILL.md has 296 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

说明:本 skill 默认使用 config.yaml:length_standard 的示例口径(已对齐 2026 调研建议)。
python3 scripts/check_length.py --input <目标标书路径> --config config.yaml如需显式声明输出目录,请使用:
运行完成后,必须读取 length_report.md(必要时辅助读取 length_report.json),将“文件级偏差表 +(可选)章节级统计”作为步骤 3 的输入。
length_report.md 出现章节表格(或 JSON 中存在 sections 字段),优先在“超长/偏短”的文件内,定位到贡献最大的具体章节,再做定点改写,而不是只在文件级做平均删改参考:references/MEANING_PRESERVING_REWRITE_RUBRIC.md
python3 scripts/check_length.py --input <目标标书路径> --config config.yamlconfig.yaml:length_standard 为唯一真相来源config.yaml:output_settings.intermediate_dir(默认 .bensz-api/task-{yyyymmdd-hhmm}-{简短描述}/nsfc-length-aligner)本 Skill 的新任务中间文件统一写入 ./.bensz-api/task-{yyyymmdd-hhmm}-{简短描述}/{skill名}/input|output|log/。

Checks a Chinese NSFC grant proposal against section length budgets, reports where it runs short or long, and guides meaning-preserving expansion or trimming. The skill turns proposal length into something measurable.bensz-api/task-` working folder inside the proposal directory.
NSFC Proposal Length Aligner fits situations like: judging whether sections of an NSFC proposal are too short or too long; aligning a proposal to the template's page or character limits; expanding or compressing proposal text without changing its argument.
Run `npx skills add huangwb8/ChineseResearchLaTeX --skill nsfc-length-aligner -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/nsfc-length-aligner in huangwb8/ChineseResearchLaTeX) into .claude/skills/nsfc-length-aligner in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add huangwb8/ChineseResearchLaTeX --skill nsfc-length-aligner -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/nsfc-length-aligner in huangwb8/ChineseResearchLaTeX) into .agents/skills/nsfc-length-aligner in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add huangwb8/ChineseResearchLaTeX --skill nsfc-length-aligner -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/nsfc-length-aligner, .gemini/skills/nsfc-length-aligner, .github/skills/nsfc-length-aligner and .opencode/skills/nsfc-length-aligner in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, NSFC Proposal Length Aligner needs Python for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (python3). Our summary lists: Python 3 to run the check script; A local copy of the proposal as LaTeX or text files; A compiled PDF for page counts (optional).
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
NSFC Proposal Length Aligner is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.3k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 5.2k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 534 tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
