mcp-configuratorAdds, removes or updates MCP servers in a holaOS workspace by editing workspace.yaml in the mcp_registry format, with rules for headers, local servers and tool allowlists.
The skill covers MCP access in a holaOS workspace. The agent edits workspace.yaml at the workspace root and puts workspace-level MCP under mcp_registry, rather than creating mcp.json, .cursor/mcp.json, claude_desktop_config.json or another generic config unless you ask for that format. It is guidance only, so the target workspace config is updated and no new files are written under the embedded-skills folder.
The rules cover tool ids in mcp_registry.allowlist.tool_ids, which must use strict server.tool syntax. Omitting the list or leaving it empty keeps every discovered tool from enabled servers, and mixed mode is allowed. Remote HTTP servers take header values that are either a literal secret or an environment-variable reference in the env: form, and a secret wrapped in that syntax is called out as invalid. Local stdio servers need a non-empty list of command tokens.
Workspace-local tools implemented in the repo go under mcp_registry.catalog, where the workspace server must stay local and each allowlisted workspace tool needs a matching catalog entry. For tools from a workspace app's app.runtime.yaml, the skill prefers the app-managed flow, where the runtime reconciles the registry entries. It ends by reopening workspace.yaml to confirm the final shape.
6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 4684714. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are yaml).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
mcp.context7.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
CONTEXT7_API_KEYFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
holaOS MCP Configurator loads about 874 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 22 tokens; SKILL.md has 345 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 345 words (~874 tokens).

holaboss-ai/holaOS
Edits an already-installed workspace capability's manifest to add an MCP server, a skill, an integration or agent guidance, then reinstalls it so the change takes effect on the next run.
holaboss-ai/holaOS

Adds, removes or updates MCP servers in a holaOS workspace by editing workspace.yaml in the mcp_registry format, with rules for headers, local servers and tool allowlists. The skill covers MCP access in a holaOS workspace.json or another generic config unless you ask for that format.
holaOS MCP Configurator fits situations like: adding a remote HTTP MCP server to a holaOS workspace; restricting which tools of an MCP server the workspace may use; registering a local stdio MCP server in workspace.yaml.
Run `npx skills add holaboss-ai/holaOS --skill mcp-configurator -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (runtime/harnesses/src/embedded-skills/mcp-configurator in holaboss-ai/holaOS) into .claude/skills/mcp-configurator in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add holaboss-ai/holaOS --skill mcp-configurator -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (runtime/harnesses/src/embedded-skills/mcp-configurator in holaboss-ai/holaOS) into .agents/skills/mcp-configurator in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add holaboss-ai/holaOS --skill mcp-configurator -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/mcp-configurator, .gemini/skills/mcp-configurator, .github/skills/mcp-configurator and .opencode/skills/mcp-configurator in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, holaOS MCP Configurator needs credentials named CONTEXT7_API_KEY. Our summary lists: A holaOS workspace with a workspace.yaml.
SKILL.md names 1 domain. In commands or code: mcp.context7.com; the agent is likely to contact it when it follows the instructions. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
holaOS MCP Configurator has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 874 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
