What it does

Common Family UX is an agent skill from HoangNguyen0403/agent-skills-standard. Judge and shape UI/UX for products used by parents and young children - audience fit, accessibility, safety and trust, comfort, consistency, and human feel. Use when reviewing or designing family, parenting, or kids app screens on phone or tablet.

Its SKILL.md is about 670 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 6 other files, including reference files (for example `evals/evals.json`, `references/child-surface.md` and `references/human-feel.md`).

It sits in Frontend & Design, covering Accessibility and UI design. The repository describes itself as: A collection of Agent Skills Standard and Best Practice for Programming Languages, Frameworks that help our AI Agent follow best practies on frameworks and programming laguages. The licence is MIT.

Workflow steps

6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Audience fit: parent and child surfaces separated; parent gate before settings, purchases, external links, and deletion.
  2. Accessibility: text contrast 4.5:1 (3:1 large); body 16px, labels 14px minimum; targets 48px parent, 64px child; icon buttons have…

  4. Comfort: calm palette, one accent; no countdown timers, streak guilt, or red badges for non-urgent items.
  5. Consistency: one design system; identical navigation on every top-level screen; one language per screen; locale dates; primary action in…
  6. Human feel: sample people agree across screens (names, ages, dates); one illustration style; no empty placeholders, filler hints, AI…

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit b529c2d. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Common Family UX loads about 666 tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.7k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 66 tokens; SKILL.md has 286 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~66
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~666
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~1.7k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Family UX

Priority: P1 (HIGH)

Declare First

  • Surfaces: parent, child, or both. Age band (for example 3-6). Locale. Devices: phone and tablet.
  • Content, milestones, and examples must match the age band.

Score Six Axes (0-3, cite evidence)

  1. Audience fit: parent and child surfaces separated; parent gate before settings, purchases, external links, and deletion.
  2. Accessibility: text contrast 4.5:1 (3:1 large); body 16px, labels 14px minimum; targets 48px parent, 64px child; icon buttons have accessible names; status never colour-only; reduced motion respected.
  3. Safety and trust: AI output labelled and separated from clinician-recorded data; no "verified" badge without a source; destructive actions two-step with export or restore; no dark patterns. Store and COPPA rules: mark needs validation, never assert compliance.
  4. Comfort: calm palette, one accent; no countdown timers, streak guilt, or red badges for non-urgent items.
  5. Consistency: one design system; identical navigation on every top-level screen; one language per screen; locale dates; primary action in the thumb zone; tablet uses two-pane or a rail, not a stretched phone.
  6. Human feel: sample people agree across screens (names, ages, dates); one illustration style; no empty placeholders, filler hints, AI cliches, or invented metrics.

Criteria: Rubric. Child rules: Child surface. AI tells: Human feel.

Findings

  • Severity: Blocker (audience fit, safety, or AA contrast on a primary action), Major, Minor, Human-feel.
  • Row: severity | axis | screen | evidence | consequence | smallest fix | edit prompt.
  • Cross-screen check: allergies, conditions, names, ages, and dates agree everywhere. Contradictory medical data is a Blocker.

Anti-Patterns

  • No bold for its own sake: maximalist, dramatic, or perpetual-motion styles tire parents and distract children.
  • No urgency mechanics: countdown timers, streaks, and loss framing on child surfaces.
  • No colour-only status: pair colour with an icon and a word.
