At a glance

Helps choose and drop in animated React components from Magic UI and React Bits for landing pages, marketing sites and dashboards, instead of hand-coding animations.

  • Works in 12 steps: Magic UI: Animated Background Patterns → React Bits: Text Reveal Animations → Magic UI: Button Components with Effects → …
  • Adding animated hero sections or backgrounds to a landing page
  • SKILL.md covers Overview, Core Concepts, Common Patterns and Integration Patterns, plus 3 more sections
  • Runs Python scripts from its folder; calls npm and npx; reaches magicui.design

What it does

Two component collections are described. Magic UI offers over 150 TypeScript components built on Tailwind CSS and Framer Motion, follows shadcn/ui conventions and installs through the shadcn CLI. React Bits offers over 90 animated components with few dependencies, copied in by hand, in groups such as text animations, interactive elements, backgrounds (Aurora, Plasma, Particles) and lists and layouts; a few use WebGL.

Beyond the overviews, the skill covers common patterns such as animated background patterns, and ships references for both component sets and for customization, plus the Python scripts `component_importer.py` and `props_generator.py`. It positions the libraries as an alternative to writing animations yourself with Framer Motion or GSAP.

When your agent uses it

  • Adding animated hero sections or backgrounds to a landing page
  • Choosing between Magic UI and React Bits for a React project
  • Installing a Magic UI component through the shadcn CLI
  • Customizing a copied animated component to match a design

Example prompts

  • “Add an animated beam between the three feature cards on our pricing page using Magic UI.”
  • “Pick a subtle animated background from React Bits for the hero section and copy it into ./src/components.”
  • “Compare Magic UI and React Bits for a dashboard that already uses shadcn/ui.”

Requirements

  • A React project, with Tailwind CSS for Magic UI components
  • Python, for the bundled helper scripts

Workflow steps

12 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. Magic UI: Animated Background Patterns
  2. React Bits: Text Reveal Animations
  3. Magic UI: Button Components with Effects
  4. React Bits: Interactive Dock Navigation
  5. React Bits: Animated Statistics with CountUp
  6. Magic UI: Marquee Component for Infinite Scroll
  7. React Bits: WebGL Background Effects
  8. Missing Dependencies
  9. CSS Animations Not Applied
  10. Z-Index Conflicts
  11. Performance Issues with Multiple Animated Components
  12. TypeScript Type Errors

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 743f46c. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

Ships 2 files in scripts/ (Python), which the agent can run.

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • npm
    • npx

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:

    • magicui.design

    Also links to:

    • reactbits.dev
    • ui.shadcn.com
    • motion.dev

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Animated React Component Libraries loads about 5.7k tokens when it runs, and up to ~16k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 150 tokens; SKILL.md has 656 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~150
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~5.7k
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~16k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 656 words (~5,650 tokens).

“This skill provides expertise in pre-built animated React component libraries, specifically Magic UI and React Bits. These libraries offer production-ready, animated components that significantly accelerate development of modern, interactive web applications.”
