producthuntLooks up Product Hunt launches, products and makers through its GraphQL API: daily top posts, topic browsing and per-post details, using a free developer token.
The agent queries the Product Hunt GraphQL V2 API with curl, using a free developer token kept in the `PH_API_TOKEN` environment variable. Queries cover today's top posts by votes, posts browsed by topic and the full details of one post by its slug, including votes, comments and makers. Setup takes about two minutes through the API dashboard and needs no OAuth flow for read-only access.
The API has no free-text search on posts, so to find a product by name the agent first runs a web search restricted to producthunt.com and then looks up the slug through the API. With no token available it falls back to web search alone. Rate limits are given as about 900 requests per 15 minutes and a complexity limit of 1000 per query. A README.md ships alongside, and the excerpt is cut off in the single-post query.
4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit b97a48f. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
curlFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
producthunt.comapi.producthunt.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
PH_API_TOKENFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Product Hunt Search and Monitoring loads about 1.7k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 62 tokens; SKILL.md has 554 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from dylanfeltus/skills at commit b97a48f, republished under its MIT licence (© dylanfeltus). 554 words, ~1,734 tokens.
.claude/skills/producthunt/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 1 other file; get the full folder from GitHub.Search for products, track launches, and monitor Product Hunt activity via the GraphQL V2 API.
API Token Required. The Product Hunt API requires authentication — but it's free and takes ~2 minutes to set up.
PH_API_TOKENIf no token is available, fall back to using web_search with site:producthunt.com queries.
The Product Hunt API does not support free-text search on posts. You can browse by topic, date, or get a specific post by slug — but you cannot search "AI writing tool" and get matching products.
To find a product by name, use web_search first:
web_search: site:producthunt.com/posts "product name"Then use the slug from the result to query the API for full details (votes, comments, makers, etc.).

Product Hunt Search and Monitoring fits situations like: checking how a product performed when it launched on Product Hunt; finding trending products in a category such as developer tools; monitoring Product Hunt for competitors or similar products; answering what launched on Product Hunt today or this week.
Run `npx skills add dylanfeltus/skills --skill producthunt -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (producthunt in dylanfeltus/skills) into .claude/skills/producthunt in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add dylanfeltus/skills --skill producthunt -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (producthunt in dylanfeltus/skills) into .agents/skills/producthunt in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add dylanfeltus/skills --skill producthunt -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/producthunt, .gemini/skills/producthunt, .github/skills/producthunt and .opencode/skills/producthunt in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Product Hunt Search and Monitoring needs the command-line tools its instructions call (curl) and credentials named PH_API_TOKEN. Our summary lists: A free Product Hunt developer token in `PH_API_TOKEN`; Network access to `api.producthunt.com`; `curl` for sending the GraphQL requests.
SKILL.md names 2 domains. In commands or code: producthunt.com and api.producthunt.com; the agent is likely to contact these when it follows the instructions. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Product Hunt Search and Monitoring is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.7k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 6.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
