appstore-intelLooks up app details, ratings and reviews and searches the iOS and Mac App Stores through Apple's free iTunes APIs, with a web-search fallback for Google Play.
For Apple platforms the agent calls two iTunes endpoints with no API key: search by term, country and entity (iPhone software, iPad software or Mac software, with a result limit from 1 to 200 and a language option), and lookup by app id, bundle id or several ids at once. Results come back as JSON with metadata such as price, size, version and release notes. The rate limit is about 20 calls per minute, so heavy use should cache results.
Google Play has no free public API, so the skill falls back to web search restricted to play.google.com and to fetching an app's detail page by package id. Typical uses are checking an app's ratings or reviews, comparing apps in a category, finding apps by keyword and researching a competitor's store presence. The excerpt is truncated before the end of the Google Play section.
4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit b97a48f. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are json).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:

developer.apple.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
App Store Intelligence loads about 2k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 62 tokens; SKILL.md has 623 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

App Store Intelligence fits situations like: checking an app's rating and review count; comparing apps in a category; researching a competitor's store listing; finding apps by keyword in a given country.
Run `npx skills add dylanfeltus/skills --skill appstore-intel -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (appstore-intel in dylanfeltus/skills) into .claude/skills/appstore-intel in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add dylanfeltus/skills --skill appstore-intel -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (appstore-intel in dylanfeltus/skills) into .agents/skills/appstore-intel in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add dylanfeltus/skills --skill appstore-intel -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/appstore-intel, .gemini/skills/appstore-intel, .github/skills/appstore-intel and .opencode/skills/appstore-intel in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: App Store Intelligence is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: Network access to the iTunes Search and Lookup APIs; Web search and fetch tools for Google Play lookups.
SKILL.md names 5 domains. In commands or code: itunes.apple.com, apps.apple.com, play.google.com and is1-ssl.mzstatic.com; the agent is likely to contact these when it follows the instructions. As links in the text: developer.apple.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
App Store Intelligence is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 2k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 7.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with App Store Intelligence: Product Development (gustavscirulis/snapgrid, 117 stars), Product Agent (gustavscirulis/snapgrid, 117 stars), Amazon Best Sellers Finder (browser-act/skills, 6.1k stars) and Consulting Analysis (bytedance/deer-flow, 83k stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
