problem-framing-canvasGuides a three-phase canvas, looking inward, looking outward, then reframing, to produce an equity-aware problem statement.
Three partitions structure the canvas: looking inward at your own assumptions and biases, looking outward at who actually experiences the problem and who has been left out of that view, and reframing those findings into a clear problem statement plus a How Might We question. Naming the solution everyone is already anchored on up front counts as useful information here, since stating it helps the canvas de-bias around it rather than pretending no one has an opinion yet.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 1b5a524. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

MITRE Problem Framing Canvas loads about 4.5k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 37 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,750 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 1,750 words (~4,489 tokens).
“Guide product managers through the MITRE Problem Framing Canvas process by asking structured questions across three phases: Look Inward (examine your own assumptions and biases), Look Outward (understand who experiences the problem and who doesn't), and Reframe (synthesize insights into…”

MITRE Problem Framing Canvas fits situations like: jumping to a solution before the problem is actually understood; checking a problem statement for confirmation bias or missing voices; reframing a vague complaint into a workable How Might We question.
Run `npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill problem-framing-canvas -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/problem-framing-canvas in deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills) into .claude/skills/problem-framing-canvas in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill problem-framing-canvas -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/problem-framing-canvas in deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills) into .agents/skills/problem-framing-canvas in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill problem-framing-canvas -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/problem-framing-canvas, .gemini/skills/problem-framing-canvas, .github/skills/problem-framing-canvas and .opencode/skills/problem-framing-canvas in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: MITRE Problem Framing Canvas is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
MITRE Problem Framing Canvas has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 4.5k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 18k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
